Experience with Satellite Phones?
 

I need to get a portable sat phone. What models are good? Anyone have one or use one?

What are the service plans like? $8/minute?

Do the data connections work at all? Email and/or icq at least?

The igloo is fully wired, even has wireless broadband ;)

I'm going to be exploring the Alaskan wilderness and need access for when I set the airplane down 300 miles from anywhere. ;)

I had a Motorola Sat Phone with Iridium (Carrier) and it was costing something like $2.00 per min. But to receive a call, it's fucking expensive for the person who is calling you - like $10 to receive a call.
