So, there are now 4 Russians arrested and 1 dead

And it all seems to tie back to the hacking stuff and perhaps the "dossier".

Gotta wonder how it will all pan out.

Moscow spy chief accused of treason over US hacking | World | The Times & The Sunday Times

Quote:

Russia has detained at least four people, including a cybersecurity chief at the FSB spy agency, on charges related to alleged hacking during the US election. They are accused of treason.

Sergei Mikhailov, head of the FSB?s centre for information security, is suspected of providing information about alleged cyberattacks by the Kremlin to an American company called ThreatConnect, according to Novaya Gazeta, the opposition-friendly newspaper.

....................................

Tsargrad, a TV channel with links to the Kremlin, said that Mr Mikhailov was detained in December during a meeting of FSB officials in Moscow. ?Mikhailov was taken from the meeting with a bag on his head,? it said.

Russian media reported that three others have been arrested. Two of them have been identified, including Ruslan Stoyanov, a senior researcher at Kaspersky Lab, a cybersecurity company based in the capital, and Major Dmitri Dokuchaev, who was described as a former hacker. In 2004, he boasted to Russian media about his hacking of an American government website.

.................................................. ..........

Ivan Pavlov, a Russian defence lawyer, confirmed that a number of people had been charged with treason. Treason cases are heard by a closed tribunal.

First I've heard of this thank you!

This makes no sense with the charge being treason. Treason against whom.

Treason against the Russian Federation for hacking America, Inc :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Maybe hacking or unauthorized access to a protected computer system however Russia would have no venue if the crime was at a computer in the USA unless they claim extraterritorial jurisdiction.

This does not add up.

Any mention of this in the Russian media?

Treason against Russia for providing information about the hacking to the U.S. or sources connected to the U.S. I would assume.

I have also seen rumors that some of them might have provided the info to the Steele guy or to American intelligence confirming that the Russians did the hacking.

Don't know for sure though but it does look like Russia is cleaning house for some reason.

Sounds like FAKE NEWS to me.

The liberal media will go to any length to support that crap.

That's not a fake. But as a local citizen I have doubts it is related to the "hacking of America" story. It's some internal "Game of Thrones".

I posted about all this the other day and linked a cyber security blog that put it all together well.

In the dossier there was mention that some of the high ranking advisors to Putin and in the FSB felt that kind of messing around in our election stepped over the line and would significantly harm Russia if they were caught.

The ones in favor of the hacking told Putin they wouldnt be caught so he went along with it. After they were caught some of the fsb guys were removed. This was actually in the dossier so it happened before it was ever leaked.

Now this new round of deaths, arrests likely stem from the leaks regarding the dossier. There is obviously something to the story and Trump was deeply involved.

Added bonus is there are rumors that Trump's people outed the rogue FSB guy to the Russians.

Read that dossier, there was an internal rift among Putin and the fsb about the hacking taking things too far. Many felt it would harm Russia if they got caught.

It's all in there and Putin is now cleaning house to try to make sure nothing else gets out.

Don't be that naive. According to the official version it's all about https://b0ltai.org/ (Google translate is your friend) which is spying on Russian politicians and top businessmen ("hacks" their personal mobiles, emails etc) then set a part of it (a teaser) on public and sell the most important parts to the interested parties via online auctions. But once again, that's just an official version for the Russian housewives. As I said above, it's a usual "Game of Thrones", and we will never find out the truth (we just can to guess) because as we say here, money loves silence...

P.S. https://b0ltai.org/ has disclosed a lot of personal dirt on politicians and businessmen (including the porn they are jerking at), but... it has never published anything on Putin and his relatives personally. For example Navalny (the Putin's enemy #1) always attacks him and his family members directly. So now make your conclusions... Usually the puppet master is not the one who is pained so by the government-controlled media...

P.P.S. It always funny when the oversea "experts" are trying to be analyze the internal events in Russia :winkwink:
