I compiled the original Mosaic Web Browser from source on a Raspberry Pi and it works!
Microsoft used the code from this to develop the original Internet Explorer and the guys that created this went on to create Netscape (Marc Andresson and another guy). Andresson Horowitz the venture capital firm.
Not too hard, just had to uncomment a line on the /etc/apt/sources.list and change one of the packages to install from libjpeg62-dev to libjpeg62-pro-dev (something like that) Mostly just following instructions along with some troubleshooting. https://github.com/alandipert/ncsa-mosaic And... it works. Not multiple tabs and a lot of the packages aren't fully featured but the bare minimum functionality works. Created at the University of Illinois NCIS, 90 minutes from where I grew up.
