Are You Experienced With PHPmyadmin?
I need someone reliable to zip up my sites -- content, databases, and everything else -- using phpmyadmin. Six to eight sites, just one a blog with posts, the rest just Wordpress with no posts but a header.
I need this done by May 20th. I'm willing to pay but not much (sad looking teary-eyed face) as I don't have much. I'm told this is simple and should take about two minutes to set up each site and download depends on your host. (Yes, simple, but I'm not able to sit at my laptop for the time needed). Payment via PayPal unless you want to donate time (😉), or I can write for you if not needed fast. Writing articles is fine but video captions or anything I have to look at online is out. I don't have the privacy needed Purple laptop at g mail dot com with no spaces. If you want $$, you'll have to wait until June. Thanks for reading my pithy missive. |
Nice to see fellow net-ponder here :)

Honestly asking for a low price on someone's work is a little demeaning, sure you might be broke at the moment but even postponing pay for another 15 days or more? That's a little sketchy. I noticed your other posts about your pages having wordpress. Unfortunately wordpress is really easy to inject into now-a-days so yes you do need some type of security on your databases. Not to mention TLS and SSL for extra encryption. I could do this job but I'd want to know what your budget is first.

Sounds sketchy to you but I've been a known webmaster for twenty-four years. Been gone for nine years but I still have the same ethics I had back then. When I was active here, I was never called out for not paying. I may have amnesia but my ethics didn't disappear. I'm not trying to demean anyone. Backing up one blog and maybe two other that have a few images (I'll reinstall Wordpress and phpbb on hacked sites) isn't long, tiring work. Fifteen-to-thirty minutes of your time isn't taking advantage either. I'm merely asking for help. If physically I could do it, I would. But I can't and may need help. May? If I sign with a new host, they'll migrate at no cost. One guy here quoted me $200. Under an hour of work, never posts here, but wants $200. I'd not hire you as I don't know you as a poster. If I wanted to trust an unknown person, I'd post on guru. It's not just a low price; trust is vital. Now I'll get off my soapbox and rest my hand after spending thirty minutes typing this. Morphine is good. |
I understand that you are a bit skeptical of guys messaging you without posting which is very much understandable especially because this are your precious websites. Eventually, you will have to trust someone to do the job. I like to help out but I can't do the task you mentioned without access and yes I haven't messaged you yet . :D
If you wish to discuss reply back. If you have skype, let's chat. :thumbsup |
I'm all set. Zero cost as new host will do it free of charge.

Glad you sorted it out Pam

Good for you! It is the best option anyway :thumbsup

Thanks! The new host did it quickly and accurately. Their Support department actually responds! My old host -- think fruit--would take three days to respond.

Might be better to use an rsync and clone it, but zips work but permissions can get broken.

Would be easier to back up your databases via terminal using mysqldump. If your databases are big then you do not want to export via phpmyadmin.
Here is the terminal command: mysqldump database_name > database_name.sql Just make sure you CD into what ever directory you want to back up to. Then just ftp/sftp into your server and back up all files including you .sql files that have just been created by the terminal command. Then move all files to the appropriate location in your new server and then open up a terminal window and restore your databases using mysqldump again. |
I moved to Mojohost a month ago. Brad's guys moved me flawlessly at no charge. I'm very, very, very slowly bringing back sites.
