First month with Solar
So today marks my first month with solar.....
My bill is $117 a month, and it seems I made $36 in profit selling power back to the power company. My total bill is $81 for the month. This is about half of what my lowest power bill has ever been. I also had three people sign up to get solar, so I got three checks for $500 each. That's $1500. |
sounds like this is working out for you :)

People like Rochard make great neighbors. He kind of reminds me of my next door neighbor who has a big Marine Corps flag, chicken coop, very tidy yard, and always gives a friendly wave when I drive by him.

:thumbsup Rochard
Saving money & the planet ! |
Rochard is a true American through & through hats off to you man. Can't wait to see your progress for next month! How often do you have to clean them off for maximum energy conversion?
|
Rochard - what's your ROI for the panels? I did the math here and it would came out to like 17 years return on investment and the panels need to be replaced after 20 years heh
The ROI was *HUGE* even considering that the EU pays for something like 50% of the cost. |
What kind of payback do you get from the electric company? one watt for one watt or retail price and wholesale price?
What electric meter do you have, mechanical meter or electronic smart meter? |

meanwhile, I left the bathroom light on all day and I have the AC cranked to the max so my bill will be stupid high. Fuck-it it's only money and you can't take it with you. :2 cents:

Nice! Wonder what the affiliate market is like for solar.

You know they are making money hand over foot. They charged me $17k for everything. It took four people eight hours to install everything. I think it was nineteen panels; You know they didn't cost $1k each. |

Also, you made more from the leads than you'll save in 1st year :winkwink: :thumbsup |

Electricity prices have historically increased -- that is not a real issue.
The cost of technology may decrease for many reasons. Recapture of the installation cost in years matters. A ten year recovery would probably be ideal IMHO. |
This looks good as an affiliate program -- the referral fees are huge.
I hope they pay ... I just bought 2 .energy domains for SEO lead sites. |

What is your system rated for power wise ? I've been looking at grid-tie from wholesale solar that is rated at 10Kw for $16,200 which should take care of 100% of our electrical needs during the summer, and then I can sell power back during the fall/winter/spring :) And with my electric company picking up 20% of the costs and the fed's covering %30, I'm looking at just under $10K of actual out of pocket, and with a yearly use of around $3500 I'll have just under 3 years in payback :pimp |
We have 2 chicken coops and about 17-18 chickens, once in a while we we a cock but we can't keep it too long because its against City ordinates.
They lay an average of 6 eggs a day. :) |

In reality he'll barely save anything or break even if he's lucky - if he isn't, he'll lose money. Totally not worth the effort, you've been duped by that company. You're lucky you found some other suckers so you at least see something in return (the commisions). And how is electricy so expensive? Burn through $117 a month you'd have to run a laundry service, weed plantation and server space in a castle with all the lights on to get such a high bill around here. |
I love our solar! We only pay $220/mo and if we didn't have solar our bill would be in the $500 to 700 during the summer!
|
Well, I certainly hope that the Congress and Trump will see the value in continuing the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for solar energy installations.
Making power from fossil fuels costs too damn much. New power installations create good paying construction jobs for medium skilled people -- we all benefit. |
congratulations on the successful productive fuel economy! I bet weīd do so well with solar here in Spain, itīs sunny 320 days of the year and itīs in the 30īs from now until October :thumbsup

I agree lifeīs much more worthy than money & living lifeīs much more important than making money, I know all about that living here in Spain. But to say, you left the light on and the ac on and it doesnīt matter. Always look after our planet & turn lights off after you :disgust |
