September Motorcycle Trip (Pre-Prague)

Since there is a time gap between AMS and Prague, with some people not going to Berlin, I was thinking of going to Prague early and renting motorcycles. Then ride to Berlin and back. (600 miles one way)

Anyone interested?

Great idea. Would be a hell of a good place to ride and explore. Perfect weather for it as well.

Nothing quite like the wind in your hair, feet outstretched on a long low chopper. :-)

AndyA 06-07-2017 07:50 AM

I have to learn how to ride a motorcycle though......

As much as I'd like to say sure and be a good guy, I'd rather only be responsible for my own life LOL...

Sounds like an awesome fun idea.

However, if you have never driven on the German autobahns, keep in mind it's nothing like driving in North America. Be careful out there!

You should get in on it with us Chris! Especially with the experience of the autobahns you have... couldn't hurt!

I used to have a motocross as a teen, but haven't been on a bike since.

Prague to Berlin is around 300 Miles or a little less. But the last 50 Miles feel like 500 because of road constructions and traffic. Have a safe trip.

baddog 06-14-2017 08:59 AM

I would recommend reserving bikes now; my plans to rent a bike in Spain fell flat due to a rally happening around the same time.

Granted, I have only done the autobahn a little, but my experience was they were much more polite. Of course, it is a law, so that may be why.

Polite, maybe. Better drivers, for sure.
My original point though was that I think the less experienced motorcyclist would be very tempted to open up their machine on the autobahn, taking it to limits that they might not ordinarily do otherwise.

I know that the first time I drove on the A5, I drove very fast. Faster than I had ever driven in my life.

Of course they will if opportunity presents itself; who wouldn't?
