Digital Photos or old school photos printed out - which do you prefer?

Taking photos with your phone, tablet or camera is so easy these days with the photos saved to SD card but, do you prefer digital photos that can be emailed or dropboxed or would you still prefer real photos 4.6 or 8x10 or whatever.

All my 15+ years old digital photos are on some disk that crashed, on a sd that broke, uploaded to one of mysites I have forgotten about.

All my crazy antics as a teen are erased from history apart from personal friends, that can only recall as a distant memory.... exactly how I prefer.

All my real photos as a kid/ teen and generations of my family before me sit in albums and an old suitcase.

Use a real camera for memories that last.

When you find an old photo in a box you can reminisce for a few moments.

You can't do the same when you find a dead hard drive or memory card that you no longer have a reader for.

Not that I can talk... I have 70,000 photos taken by one of my cameras, and of those I've printed out maybe 20 of them. I store them in raw format, so if I died tomorrow no one in my family would probably know how to properly access them.

I would only get a choice few printed, especially of my daughter. I transfer everything to my computer each time I get a new phone, but I know a lot of that stuff will be forgotten unless it's printed.

and there's probably a higher number of shitty pics these days because you can shoot to your heart's content and not worry about running out of film or flash. Back in the day you made sure you were taking an interesting pic.

I still print out a few, but then they are taken by other people and sent to me via email / facebook etc...

In as much as I call myself a "Photographer" I've never really considered myself as being anything more than an "acceptable hack." Just the same I look at what passes itself off as being quality photography and I'm convinced that we've put cameras in the hands of retarded chimps. -- So thank heavens that all these digital pictures will be destroyed in a few years.

In a 100 years there'll be more photos that survived the Edwardian age then there'll be of the early 21st century.

This.

The value and magic of a photograph is a thing of the past.. since anyone with a phone can shoot pics free nowadays.
