Ongoing measles outbreaks in the WHO European Region have caused 35 deaths in the past 12 months. The most recent fatality was a 6-year-old boy in Italy, where over 3300 measles cases and 2 deaths have occurred since June 2016. Several other countries have also reported outbreaks; according to national public health authorities, these have caused 31 deaths in Romania, 1 death in Germany and another in Portugal.

?Every death or disability caused by this vaccine-preventable disease is an unacceptable tragedy,? says Dr Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe. ?We are very concerned that although a safe, effective and affordable vaccine is available, measles remains a leading cause of death among children worldwide, and unfortunately Europe is not spared. Working closely with health authorities in all European affected countries is our priority to control the outbreaks and maintain high vaccination coverage for all sections of the population.?

In 2015, there were 134 200 measles deaths globally – about 367 deaths every day or 15 deaths every hour.

In 2015, about 85% of the world's children received one dose of measles vaccine by their first birthday through routine health services – up from 73% in 2000.
During 2000-2015, measles vaccination prevented an estimated 20.3 million deaths making measles vaccine one of the best buys in public health.

I survived measles as a child before they had the vaccine. I was lucky. My sister got sick as hell as I recall. She didn't think it was mild.

You're talking about malnourished people in the starving Third World, who simply need to keep up with their Vitamin A, give out Vitamin A supplements rather than risking leaving them disabled with an unsafe vaccine. If someone in Ethiopia is almost a skeleton with no food available, then Measles take them down it's quite unfair to count that as a Measles death; healthy well nourished people have no problem with Measles, back in my day we had Measles parties, we were all fine and it made our immune systems stronger.

The biggest question of all is why not just fix the vaccines and make them safe in the first place, invest money into that rather than spending it all on lobbying and marketing. The only explanation is that vaccine damage is desired by the pharmaceuticals, as they make money from sick people who need to buy their drugs.

Measles is something to celebrate, so yes you were lucky, you were lucky to catch Measles, as anyone who has Measles is immune for life, whereas if you only had the vaccine the immunity will wear off.

All my family and friends had Measles, it's no biggie at all, but companies have rewritten reality and fearmongered so people will accept the dangerous and highly toxic vaccine.

Starting from January 2016, parent who didn't have their children's vaccinations up-to-date were being denied the Child Care Benefit, the Child Care Rebate and the Family Tax Benefit.
