Need to strip sound from a large number of video files.

I've got a damaged box of masters of some old videos but luckily I still have copies of 2nd generation tapes. BUT unfortunately the 2nd generation tapes are dubbed in spanish.

BUT fortunately the sound on the masters appears to be salvageable. It's complicated what I'm trying to do but to make a long story short I'm hoping there's something that will allow me to strip the sound (in any format) from the old masters after I capture the video.

Very simple process...take the old masters and transfer the sound alone to some disc. Then duplicate the Spanish masters to another disc. Then you will have two sources . One with picture and another with sound.

Now find a sync point, like gun shot, slap, crack or some bit of dialogue where you can see the sync....means words starting with "p" "b" so you can see the lips in sync and voila.. Let it run toghter...

Any decent editing software will do it. You just need to figure out the tech specks of the masters and the final output..:2 cents:

I really screwed up explaining my problem because I should have said that this was DigiBeta.

Now I do not have a problem importing "the video" but the actual "video" is non-usable. (It's ruined crap) But unfortunately I can NOT export the sound so I'm stuck with a video file.

I need something that can do a batch process of stripping the sound from 40 video files into something like .wav/mp3/etc.

Maybe you can use ffmpeg. Here is a link that may be helpful.

Can you get both versions (each with video + audio) onto a computer? If you can, then import both clips into a program like Vegas and just mute the two tracks (bad video and Spanish audio) and rerender the two good tracks.

Where are you based? I know a guy in Prague who can extract "magic" to disc even from digiBeta...

I am not an expert but basically if you can find digiBeta recorder/player you can output all 4 sound channels and "mute" the video.
