Actually, The Kids from NZ, not far from where I'm from. The tattoo would be off putting but hardly an issue at the local meat works or farm work, the local biggest employers. There will be plenty of local Maori boys with full face tattoos in full employment with no problems. Google "Maori Head Tattoos" His issue is he's a white boy, with a distinguishable tattoo that's been done for armed robbery and many other crimes and lives in a small town. The employers might be missing out on someone good though. If he's smart, creative, thinks "outside the box" and has no criminal record, then why refuse the guy just for his tattoo?

The tattoo is not an excuse, its the ultimate attention hoe kinda thing, the fact he's on the world news.. just makes the issue worse. Dumb attention whoring kids that think crime makes them look "tuff", is an international issue.
