Here is a little tip, (for the newbies), that will help you make AT LEAST $1,500

Ok, Most of you start out making galleries and submitting to TGP's. That's fine...I still do it myself. However, instead of putting your sponsor of choice's banner on the gallery and linking it to THEIR website... why not put the banner on the tgp and link it to YOUR website.

Here's an example... Let's say I want to promote HomeGrownVideo. I would make an amateur gallery and place a couple of HomeGrownVideo banners on it... BUT, instead of linking it to HomeGrownVideos website... I link it to my website which I copied from theirs... see: http://www.iamateurs.org/freepage1.htm

Now I can take advantage of the people WITH credit cards (approx 20& of online surfers) and the ones WITHOUT credit cards (approx 80%).

You need to contact your sponsor to request a direct link to the JOIN page... if they do not allow it... don't use them...However, 90% of them will and are glad to do it for you.

As you can see at the bottom of the page: http://www.iamateurs.org/freepage1.htm I offer free tickets to people WITHOUT credit cards, (almost everyone online has an email address of some sort), and that's all you need to get a free ticket, HomeGrownVideo does NOT offer this option... therefore, it's an added way to increase you profit margin.

On a bad day of traffic I give out AT LEAST 5 free tickets and the sponsor pays me $1 per ticket.
So that's $5 X 365 = $1,825 per year extra....

Ok, I said $1,500 so Pay Pal me an overages for this info...

That's a nice simple easy to understand way to make more money.

Have a nice day...

~Ray

P.S. If you want to give away free tickets too... just click on any free ticket link, then scroll down to the bottom of that page and click on the webmaster link to sign up. I made $65 today giving away free tickets to people I would have lost sending them straight to HGV...you can too.

From my own experience, this DOES work, it definately helps in targetting your traffic a bit better, and if your going to have leaks, might as well leak to your own sponsors.

Excelent post Big_Ray, and thanks.

So you steal paysite designs now?

stocktrader23 04-23-2003 09:43 PM

Not trying to piss on your campfire but........

With Free Passes on the same page you are trying to get credit cards out of people you are fucking yourself out of full signups. So he gets 5 free signups a day. If even 1 of those people every 5 or 6 days would have joined the full site he is losing money.

On another note, the way his tour is set up isn't that using their content to push another site? Looks like you are joining the same companies site but you aren't. :2 cents:

True .. i didnt look that far into it, i was just complimenting the idea of the "mid page" which i generally try to use.

I have in the past used logo and graphics from paysites for mid-page purposes (with their permission), but like you said .. i never used it to push a different site.

Ill usually have a full page promoting my main sponsor, then at the bottom maybe a email panel, as well as a counter to get good CTR stats off my galleries.

Your right though, now i look at it and he really did over due it a bit with the tickets at bottom.

Good point.

I dont know of too many sponsors that would object to you taking their logo and/or layout as long as your using it to push their site on a BYOT program.

As stocktrader pointed out, he did go a bit to far though, ill admit that.

Why not host the tour yourself and put a blur console to an email program? If they decide not to signup to the site and close the window, then they are hit with the free sign up offer from the blur.

What is a blur console?

Technically he means pop a window in the BACKGROUND when the user enters the site, so when he closes the tour, he sees this one.

Personally, i would use an exit for this because the blur might scare a few signups away. I always like to put a little text says "dont be scared, no popups!" under my links off galleries, always seems to help on CTR a bit.

I rather have the images/page load in the background when they are viewing the original tour rather than have them wait on an exit console for the images to load. I personally would just close the exit right away without even looking at it if I was a surfer.

Ok good point, but it leads me to this:

If the exit is going to take so long to load, your assuming we are dealing with a dial-up surfer, fare assumption.

But that being the case, do we want to load graphics on a blur, at the same time we are loading the tour? Wont the delay in loading the tour look nasty?

You prolly have more experience with this, as i said i dont use popups on my mid-pages.

Thanks.

you should always add one sponser per page.

you gonna confuse the surfer

1. you want him to pay for new fantastic site
2. or join another fantastic site for Free

and only 20% having credit cards is not a good figure. since debit cards becoming popular and you most ISP require that you pay with a CC the number should be alittle higher than that

better to add to an exit

Nice post playa.

Id be interested in seeing a bit more feedback on "one sponsor per page"

I have not begun development, but for my new jizz domain i was thinking of adding a choice of sponsors within the niche.

But since you mentioned it, now it doesnt seem like a good idea, i see your point.

Anyone else have feedback on that?

Thanks.
