HURRICANE IRMA - S. Florida Preparer Thread
So if you live in S. Florida like I do you will have a list of essentials and supplies that you will need to get you thru the storm. Post what your inventory list is, and where you live and what stores have what.
God Bless. |
Gas an Water have run dry here in South Tampa.
|
Thanks GFED so no water and gas in Tampa area ppl...
|
If you don't have your stuff by now in South FL at least you likely wont be getting anything at a store.
Central FL Im sure there is still stuff left.. |
We're prepped with our batteries, flashlights, weather radio, solar charger for the cell phones, glow sticks (for if I mis-calculated how many batteries we need or the flashlights just get too hot or we just want some ambient light because the house is so dark with all the shutters up), water, cat food, propane for the grill... non-perishables plus some meats frozen that we can pull out and grill up as needed. Shutters will go up once we have a watch, though I went out and WD40's all the hinges and bolts to make that an easier job.
Cars are gassed up, too, and will do a final fill-up tomorrow. My local publix (PBC) got a water delivery this AM, and I watched gas stations getting re-filled last night after dinner. After watching the devastation of Harvey, everyone here is taking this storm seriously. I expect Tampa gas stations and supermarkets will be equally re-supplied several times this week before Irma hits. As an FYI, if you're on the hunt for batteries and your supermarket/walgreens/whatever doesn't have them, hit your local adult shop. They always have batteries for toys ;) Hopefully Irma keeps trending eastwards. Looks like you folks in Tampa will have more of a wind and rain event than a storm, but who knows with mother nature. Us on the east coast may get the worse of it even if she keeps moving to the east. Stay safe, everyone! ~Emily |
Good luck guys!
|
Best of luck my Floridian friends.
Emily sounds like she knows whats up! |
I'm on the west coast down from Tampa and it's nuts. I figure we may have to evacuate to a school or a fortified structure. Everyone is scrambling for the bare essentials at the last minute.
No or little gas, no water. I hate to lose all I've worked for and collected over the years. But I guess it's what happens. As long as the family is okay, then I'm cool. |
Stock up on lube.
Stay safe! |
Florida is used to Hurricanes.
|
best of luck and stay safe there in Florida guys and girls!

Lot of my family moved to Florida many years ago. Only thing that's ever happened is they lost like 1-2 shingles off the roof due to crazy winds over the years. This one does have me worried a bit for them. They managed to get shit Gas/Water etc... but not 1 stop shopping as the Texas storms have set the Floridians into be prepared/overstock mode, the ones that are staying anyway.
