Coinbase charges 4% to purchase. Anybody using a cheaper alternative?

how about Kraken, BitStamp ? ever used them ? are they OK ?

all these crypto currencies seem like a wonderful idea to take money from the people..imagine a guy that invents one of such currencies..you get the cash (and that being said "normal" money is even "funnier" then most of these cryptos), buy something real for it (houses, cars, land, whatever) and give people something that exists only in VR (even worse than a banknote paper :) ). later it all defaults, markets crash and you will stay with houses, lands, cars and someone else - with so called "coin"....

As for now, 90 % or even more transactions on coins are used only for speculation - meaning noone really buys or seels anything for it..makes you wonder...

I will take a risk though and buy some cryptos, not sure if BTC though:winkwink::winkwink:

Bitstamp is solid. My European friends use them and like it. I use them for other things but I was never able to fund my account because they were VERY strict about verifying accounts. Needed id scans, piece of mail to verify address, and lots more

Buying coins, I would fund your account first, research what are the price range for the coin(s) you want, and put a buy limit order for the low end amount and wait to hit (i even set mine lower than the average range, and usually they hit eventually)

Kraken is a site that doesn't serve Americans.

Never trust a person or website that uses the expression "unfortunately".

Incorrect country - Unfortunately we cannot accept United States residents at this time

I feel safer using coinbase than using some site with a weird extension to buy my coins. Even with the fee you are going to make that money back!

I'm an American and I use Kraken exclusively. Also just set up a Bittrex account, but will not be using them until after the BTC split November 16th.
Bitstamp will not allow me to set up an account because they are not licensed in my state.

Extensions don't matter anymore. Look at Trezor.io and others. There is no safe anymore.

Coinbase is kind of pricey, but is good for newbies to use until they are familiar with other companies.

I like Mining sites. You make an "investment" which you never get back, but you earn daily amounts, which you can cash out. (Keep in mind that fees can be 4%, or 4% to send to your wallet, then 4% from your Wallet to however you want to trade or cash out. So don't withdraw every few hours!)

Here's a new one I found HydroPower H2O

Green Mining in the Austrian Alps.
Pre-Sale sold out in 36 minutes! Thanks everyone!

Now they're in the token sale, prior to starting business.

NickBaer 11-04-2017 10:05 AM

I find Mining sites to be interesting.

Hour Invests has a very classy website! (Bootstrap?? or some new fangled thing??)

More importantly, some great Investment plans, and hourly returns on investment!

NickBaer 11-04-2017 10:16 AM

I can't do Gemini right now. They 2fa with your mobile phone, and I'm not int he US right now.

I don't want to try to fake them out with my European SIM number, then raise flags when my card have a US address.

So I can't try them on for size right now.

Perhaps you can try Bitcoin ATM?Tho, not sure do they go both way.

I tried 2 mining sites a few years ago. Did not make any money, then they both closed before my contracts ran out. Last year I signed up at Genesis and Hashflare for Dash and Zcash right before they both exploded so I made bank for a year. I'm done with them now. I don't think I will be lucky twice.

Yes! There are two brands of BitCoin ATMs here in Prague, and I have used both.

Very convenient. You can use or re-use an existing Wallet of yours, or press the option to have the ATM print out a new "paper" Wallet for you! It looks like a cash-out slip from a slot machine in Vegas!

You then go back home and "Receive" that Wallet in your Mycelium App. Next time I might try having the ATM scan my Mycelium QR code and save a step (and 4%)!

One of the two brands, for sure, does pay out in currency. Even though Prague (Czech Republic) is in the EU, they like their local currency Kc, CZK, Czech Korunas here. So I don't know if they pay out in CZK, EURO or both.

I might try before I leave in a few weeks.

I made those ATM purchases for BTC and ETH before Coinbase allowed Americans to buy BTCs, and use credit/debit cards. I have used Coinbase now for BTC, ETH and LTC. In mid September, following the 3 European porn shows, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague. I closed my eyes and did it. That was September 15. Today is Nov 4, and you know how BTC has done since. And ETH, slow but steady.

GDAX all day all night. You can use your CB credentials to log in.

Same company, zero fees if you do trades as a maker. ;)

Yes, you will be!

I'm in Hashflare right now! Not as hefty a payout, but they're still standing.

I like Bitdetector for the awesome Bootstrap animations, and the 10% per day.

Coinify has a respectable payout as well. I have already re-invested 10-days of earnings, doubling my "investment" deposit.

If you wanted to be WOW'd by web graphics, there's HOUR INVEST. I like their "hourly" earnings plan!

It is one thing to buy BTCs and ETHs to speculate on their going to $10K... and then there's mining sites that payout daily returns. Since when has a US bank paid 10%/day :) . I have a list at Crypto Currencies.

NickBaer 11-04-2017 11:40 AM

So far, I have invested less in Cryptos, than an average month buying stuff on Amazon!

While I enjoy boxes with smiley faces arriving on my doorstep, seeing those Bootstrap "earnings" reports is also a good feeling!

NickBaer 11-04-2017 12:15 PM

I spent a bit over $2,000 going to the 3 September porn shows, and then some before I got settled in Prague.

I should make the $2,000 back by the end of the month. I've always wanted to go to all 3 shows, back-to-back. I learned a lot, and met some awesome people.

Paul&John 11-04-2017 01:31 PM

Using Bitstamp, no problems so far

HomerSimpson 11-04-2017 03:56 PM

HourInvests

I was so impressed with Mining site HourInvests immediate response to my withdrawal request, that I made a new investment!

The BTCs were sent to my share Wallet within seconds, and confirmed within a half-hour (as normal). No Withdrawal fee, saved me 4%+!
