Selfitis? could be sign of mental illness ‒ study
|
Well, I don't take six selfies a day so I'm good.
|
While I do think I'm a good looking guy, I can't stand seeing myself in pictures....especially a selfie.
|
Wehateporn hates America & American culture and loves Putin & Trump. He posts anti-American shit day in and day out on a porn board topics that have nothing to do with porn because he has no fucking life.
|
I took my first selfy about 1 year ago. I was partying. Since then I took about 3 more. Only when drinking as I still think selfies are ridiculous and only for bimbettes.
|
I've only took a selfie twice. Once to check the camera was working, and once outside a monument to prove that I had been there.
I certainly wouldnt take one after another just to look at my pretty face... |

I distrust people that take selfies ...

Because that is the main everyday reference you have regarding what you look like, your brains 'sense of self' accepts the reverse image as gospel... So when you see yourself in a selfie or other photo, you don't look 'right' because subconsciously your brain expects you to be a mirror image. |

Your brain avoids confusion by telling you - Yes, This is 'normal' - although my hair is parted on the left, this is what it 'should' look like. Then when you see a photo, its NOT reflected and it looks like your hair isn't 'correct' - Yes, its a parting on the left etc... But it doesnt look 'quite right'... OK the hair parting is an extreme example for examples sake, but it also applies to the extremely subtle differences between the left and right side of your face, which while extremely similar, are not 100% identical. My expertise on the subject comes from my early years in portrait photography, where the first thing I did, was to discover which side of my subjects face was their 'best side'. |
A fun trick to demonstrate this at home is to use the webcam on your computer to take an expressionless face on shot of your face. Then put it in photoshop and create a 'mirrored' version where you have two left and sides of your face (one obviously reversed) and the same with 2 right hand sides of your face.
You will find that one of them looks pretty normal, and one of them will look really strange and weird. The one that looks normal is your 'best side' |

I know which side I like more, but curious about "technical" information of how did you find that out. edit: looks like you explained it in the next post (although maybe you used to figure that out without that PS trick in real life?). |
Thats the reason why run a nonude selfie site :1orglaugh

I was on a date recently and the girl says to me "you are much better looking than in your picture."
I thought that was an interesting comment to make, so I asked more. She says "yeah, most guys look better than their pictures. Guys take terrible pictures because they rarely take selfies. Girls are the opposite. They always look worse in real life." This thread backs up her statement that guys rarely take pictures, LOL. |

You will clearly see that one side looks normal in the reflection, and that is the good side. The other side will look completely weird and unnatural. |
could be if it hurts

Most men are not taking selfies, looking at other men's selfies, and doing research on how to make good selfies. Due to this, the selfies that they do take are typically going to suck because they don't know how to take good ones. Women are often the opposite. They are looking at each other's pictures on the various social media outlets, testing and taking their own pictures, and reading on how to take good pictures. Women do this with makeup and clothing as well, more so than men. As many men in this thread have said, they take a few selfies a year, at best. With only a few snaps a year, you will not be a very good selfie taker. Very good opportunity for guys that do the online dating/Tinder thing. Put some time into a few good selfies and you will have a leg up on 99% of the other guys. |
Make sense. However question:

Like is a good selfie better than good non selfie? |

I have another picture where I'm at a charity event and sticking my tongue out. Strange choice but it's fun. I added it because I had nothing else at the time, yet I get TONS of comments about it. Don't be a stick in the mud, show your fun side. |
