We learned today that Olivia Lua passed away this morning, ? may she rest in peace.

Olivia Lua joined Direct Models in April 2017, though had not been available for work since early October of last year, as she had been facing some personal challenges that had seen her in residential rehab for a period of nearly three months and from which she had been out for about a month, hoping to make a return to work in the early part of this year.

We learned today that she had returned to a different facility in West Hollywood after a relapse, approximately a week ago, at which she was found deceased this morning,

Family and close friends relate they had deep concern at the volume of prescription drugs prescribed to Olivia and the danger this posed her, if this was mixed with recreational drugs or alcohol.

It is believed this to be the cause of her passing.

Prescription drugs (specifically opioids) are a major crisis in this country. Total epidemic. :(

Sad to see another one. I at first thought I read an old story. So sad. 5 in just a few months.

Correction: Just got informed that her time in the rehab facility was related to mental issues and NOT addiction.

I jumped the gun when I saw the words rehab facility and assumed it was prescription drugs.

Her passing at such a young age is sad. RIP. Condolences to her family and friends.

This is so sad. Such a waste for such a young, beautiful girl. She had her whole life ahead of her. Its so easy to look at someone like Olivia and assume she must have it all and she's living the life.

Some people get into this type of modeling out of love or admiration for the art, or whatever. But others, maybe they feel they've lost everything and everyone in life and have nothing more to lose. These are the ones who often have short lifespans.

I don't really know what the circumstances were with Olivia. But please remember your models on holidays and birthdays, which are probably the hardest times for some of them. Let them know they have somewhere to visit and someone to spend time with on those occasions. That they don't have to spend them alone. Maybe even a phone call just to sing happy birthday would mean so much.

Let's hope Olivia will be the last model death for a long, long time.
