Which adult verification check to use
 

Regarding the new UK law.

Which adult verification check system(s) are affiliate sites planning to use. I have seen several, but which one has most verification options.

The law is supposed to come into effect next month but as yet, the regulator has given no guidelines at all.
Most AV companies have said what they will do but have no working demos yet or test installs possible.
The whole thing so far seems like a complete clusterfuck :Oh crap

Yeah, they'll be most popular for the surfer by far as they have most of the traffic but for for other adult sites using them, I'm not so sure unless they offer good pricing.

And there in lies the problem. As an adult wanting to watch a bit of porn, age verification is no big deal. I had to call up my phone people when I got my phone and say that I wanted 'unrestricted' internet (What they called adult content) and it took about 2 minutes. They just checked I was over 18 (Im nearly 50) and said OK

A few hours later I had proved my age and could access what I wanted. PAINLESS. Like wise I can see people going to a big tube (Manwin) and signing up for their service, no problem at all.

Bur when you get asked again by someone else to prove it again you may do it again. But the 3rd time? Your just gonna say fuck it and stick with the 'big boys' that you have already registered with...

In Short, I can see people doing it once or twice, but not keeping on doing it for all the diff systems...

Hence the Mindgeek solution will win - you verify once (on one of their tubes) and then you can access all of the sites that carry their product.

MG can AV 90% of the UK porn viewing population (at their expense) before the law comes into effect.

Which opens up all manner of new business models for those smart enough to get with the program.

Surely the manwin one is just like a central database. When someone goes onto there site and verifies there age, can they not just go onto any porn site afterwards?. Going by the price they quoted me, a lot of folk will be closing there sites cause its far too expensive

Why not come up with a universal solution, like usb c. Eventually every device, phone, headphones, etc will be usb type c.

Why not host your sites on servers in another country that doesn't require it?.. :upsidedow

Exactly Phil. It should be a system put in place by the British government as its them thats making these changes and it should be free for adult websites to implement. Im surprised hosting companies are not more involved in this too. They can cut deals with these verification companies then offer server packages that include full UK age verification setup for all your sites. All hosting companies like Mojo etc could even come together and create a verification system that they all share at a reasonable price cause trust me, companies like Manwin etc are going to abuse there position and charge sky high monthly prices that get rid of tons of smaller sites

Some browsers like Epic have built-in private VPN... I hope silly rule makers realize they won't be able to simply block people from porn... unless they ban them from using the Internet in whole. Their ideas are ridiculous and will only make people pissed off.

Apparently https://www.avsecure.com/ is free to use and implement on your sites, in order to stay compliant.

All my stuff is just white labels that I have no real control over and clips4sale, but if I still had anything that need to be compliant, these are the guys I would be talking to atm.

Oh it is a stupid idea and no it wont work and it will cause a lot of problems for sure.

However its still coming and it affects anyone who wants UK traffic to come to their website.

How will they even know there is 'porn' on your site?

By domain name? Like food porn?

Or by paying people to check each site to make sure it has porn on it?

The law is dumb and will fail.

What they are trying to achieve is good in theory but it's not solved as easy as this option I feel.

The AVSecure solution looks the best to me.
