If you wanna get technical by law all children who arrive at an office of refugee resettlement facility
regardless of with whom they entered the country with parent or not are considered unaccompanied
once they are detained. That's been the law for a while now before Trump even ran.

This is a huge part of the problem with the Trump administration. They leap first without anything thought. It's like "this sounds like a good idea" but they clearly don't think it through. This problem with children and immigration is the perfect example. Do you really mean to tell me that someone somewhere along the line didn't say out loud "Hmmm, maybe taking kids away from people who commit a misdemeanor and placing said children in detention centers isn't a good idea".

Didn't someone say say "Gee, the image of a four year old boy with a government issued silver blanket behind a chain link fence is going to be a bad visual".

Then when they decided to reverse the policy they panicked and issued a executive order too quickly that only confused people and made things WORSE.

You people need to think about this. This is a misdemeanor crime. Imagine you are driving down the road and get pulled over for speeding, they find a joint in your car, and suddenly you are arrested and your kid is transported a thousand miles away and you have no idea where they are. If that isn't bad enough, when they are returned back to you they are returned with lice.

NO ONE wants open borders. But we need to be humane here. Arrest them, document the arrest, and then quickly send them home. The next time they are caught in the country instant one year in prison. If they have kids, their kids get deported back to their home country right there and then. If they get caught at third time entering the US illegally it's ten years in prison.

The system they put in place is worthless. So they come to the country illegally and we detain them and feed them and house them? How does that deter people? It's costing us a lot of money to do this.

1) Legal asylum seekers were separated from their children.

2) They are not being separated anymore because Trump was a coward, backed down and signed an executive order stopping the separation.

But did we lock them up and take their children away from them?

No one wants open borders. No one wants illegal immigrants to come here and do whatever. The difference is one group of people want to lock them and take their children away for no reason, while other side wants humane treatment for everyone.

Before you answer.... Do you smoke pot? Imagine you are arrested for a misdemeanor because you have a joint in your car. It's a misdemeanor, but the police officer has the choice to issue you a ticket or arrest you. So... from now on there is a zero tolerance policy, so from now on the next time you busted for a joint it's a misdemeanor which requires you to go to jail, no bond, no bail, and you have to wait until you can see a judge. Because of this zero tolerance policy, the jails are over crowded and because of the zero tolerance policy the legal system is backed up so.... You sit in jail for thirty days plus while waiting to see a judge. Your car was impounded. And if your child was with you, well, they went off to detention in another state because your state doesn't have a facility to hold children.

Does that sound logical to you at all?

This is what is currently happening. If you enter the country illegally it's a misdemeanor, they get thrown in jail until they can see a judge which takes weeks or months. In the mean time, their car is impounded, and if they have a job and rent a house.... Well, they no lose all of their stuff. If they have kids, well, their kids get taken away from them.

This is a horrible policy. We are holding people in jail for no reason and hold them, which is only costing us money. SEND THEM HOME AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

This is so simple it's not even funny. I'll use bullet points to explain it....

• If you are caught in the US illegally - ever - you never apply for a green card, apply to become a citizen, or apply for asylum
• If you are caught in the US illegally you are quickly returned home and charged - they have to pay for all of the expenses of arresting, detaining, feeding, and transporting them. If they don't pay, turn it over to a collection agency.
• If they return to the US illegally and are caught, it's two years in prison.
• If they return again to the US illegally and are caught, it's ten years in prison.

Just the fact that if they are caught in the US illegally means they will NEVER have the ability to become a US citizen is enough to deter them right from the beginning. If they continue to break the law and return to the US, straight to prison.

When you seek asylum you gotta do it at a port of entry. Of those children separated from there family's how many came through port of entry? If they come across any other way they cant claim asylum.

2)If it wasn't for Trump we wold not be talking about this. Do you really think Trump gives a fuck what you or any of his political opponents think? I would think after everything Trump has said or done since the day he came the escalator people would of learned that by now.
