The key to this story, is one guy was former military and the other a retired cop. Meaning neither of these guys were billy bob the redneck running around with a shotgun and gonna save MERICA! These guys were both trained in how to handle and deal with a shooting situation.

Not going to say a "average" citizen with no military or police training can not help in a active shooting situation, but my guess is a large part of them would add to the confusion. Just because someone has a gun doesn't make them competent and a hero.. This situation was just lucky in the fact 2 guys were competent and well trained.

a few untrained guys have been killed going for active shooters... crockett he thinks it's funny when guys get killed trying to stand up to assholes, he'll remember the stories...
