20,000 craft beer industry jobs expected to be lost this year

Among those other industries, those in business of brewing craft beer have also raised concerns of aluminum tariffs forcing them to raise prices.

"The aluminum tariff alone could cost the industry $347.7 million and result in the loss of more than 20,000 jobs nationwide,” argued Jim McGreevy, the president of the Washington, D.C.-based Beer Institute, in a previous statement to Fox News.

Doesn't seem to be having much of an effect on the trading price of aluminum...

https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/aluminum

I would have expected the trading price to be affected as well.

I do. But, if I was investing in aluminum, this would make me very happy.

I remember about 10 or 11 years ago when crude was super high, some buddies of mine were all pretty happy about it.

I don't care too much for canned beer. It sucks if people are losing their jobs over this though.

Makes me think the Trump administration is fucking with these tariffs just to control the market and turning some profits with investments.

What do you think? Certainly wouldn't surprise me.

The coal & oil commodities have increased 28% under Trump this year and the World bank is saying another 4% minimum next year.

So the price of rent, credit, cars, gas, food, beer, milk, prescription drugs & soda have all gone up higher than the 2% wage increase under Trump. Inflation. Good for big industry bad for the little guy.

Commodity prices likely to rise further in 2018: World Bank

Decimated? How many breweries have closed?

Anything to defend Trump, even at the expense if your believed craft beer industry. Shameless

Read the 4 articles I posted links to and educate yourself about what's happening to your industry.

Due to big business beer company lobbying Trump's FDA is forcing all small craft beers to have "nutritional labelling". Another huge expense for small craft beer companies.

Don't get me wrong. I am against these tariffs 100%.

who drinks craft beers out of cans?? I gave up beer and switched to vodka and stuff 4 years ago but when I drank beer I only bought bottles cause beer in cans didn't taste as good..

No, I'm not a trump supporter just pointing out that you would think more people would just drink bottles if the price of cans was going up. Tariffs suck!

Raising the prices of domestic canned beer, now that will hit Trumpers where it hurts the most.

Kegs are not aluminum.

Let there be no mistake, a lot of craft breweries are transitioning to cans but no one is closing because of the aluminum, much less being decimated.

Did I say they were all aluminum? Better put on your reading glasses old man. :1orglaugh

Are there not aluminum and "STEEL" tarrifs?

Just for the record though... some kegs are made out of aluminum but most are stainless steel.

The tarriffs began July 9th. It hasn't even been a month yet and prices are just starting to increase and stock tank for various American companies being impacted.

Too late, the craft beer industry is tanking but it's ok with Baddog because #Trump , even though baddogs whole existence is his craft beer site.
