CNN digging what looks like..

...its own grave.

Quote:

Last week, CNN dropped a full 41 percent in the daytime TV ratings and fell 36 percent in primetime compared to the same week last year.
Quote:

AdWeek reports, “CNN ranked No. 6 across basic cable in total prime time viewers, and No. 5 in total day this past week. Despite the top 10 finishes, the network was -36 percent in prime time viewers, and -41 percent in total day viewers vs. the same week last year.”
https://www.breitbart.com/big-journa...rom-last-year/

While being a far left media house you'd expect after all this time they'd know why ratings continue to decrease.

But like a hardcore METH addict they walk the same path with no remorse and show no signs of improving.

Trump is a fuck up...nothing can help your cause because he will fuck up so much it will set back your right wing movement for decades...not just in the USAbut globally...

CNN can go under tomorrow, the emperors new clothes still apply...

imagine what happens to their ratings when they get pulled from airports.

Whether Trump is a fuck up or not is completely irrelevant in CNN losing ground. I think people are genuinely tired of being told what to think and biased news shoved down their throats...:2 cents:

The deal CNN cut with US airports years ago is the ONLY thing still giving them any ratings at all. They have that in a monopoly.

When that deal expires they are in a lot of trouble.

Smarter people are getting their news from their digital devices... probably at work, or probably just not paying for cable tv anymore.

Red hats still watch tv sets... probably sitting on the couch while the smarter people are working. People like this usually don't like change.

Like this guy...

I dislike CNN as much as the next guy but I suspect at least half that loss is people using the internet instead of watching tv, and probably a good chunk of that is cutting cable/satelite.

The truth is becoming less and less popular...people want to pick the alternate truth they want to hear about and fits their views...then theres sponsors...they do not want to lose money so the "truth" has to fit their views also...journalism is also becoming desperate...investigative journalism is almost dead...but kim kardashians butt gets clicks...so does fear and hate...

The problem is, we are doing everything possible to kill the truth...nobody pays for news so news finds a way to sell "more interesting" alternate news for clicks...

Alex jones is a great example...he found a niche...news for dumb angry people...but sponsors do not like losing money so he sells snake oil...

Personally I made the switch due to their politics. They are totally disillusion, I hate how they keep doubling down and saying they are an un-biased news source. I would respect them more if they would just admit they are biased and own it.

yeah but that doesn't help their distraction and 'wishful thinking' narrative. It's an odd form of desperation that they most likely are incapable of recognizing.

They would rather convince themselves that they are right than be honest. Which is why breitbart even exists at all. They also don't realize that they are just as insane as the far left now by doing this. All the things that they hate about the left is exactly what they are doing now.

It's insane, they will lick the boots of any dem. You don't even need to be paying attention to know when anyone conservative is on. The hosts tone changes instantly and goes into attack mode. It's comical

People keep saying Trump is a fuck up. However, i can not really see where anything he has done is really hurting the USA. Overall things are trending upward.
Seems odd the disconnect that is happening with reality and the news outlets.

CNN is also, being dropped by hotel chains...just in last three months I have travelled to these places where last year ( or a year before) they had CNN but now they do not:

Amba Hotel Charring Cross London
Marriot Hotel Innsbruck
Grand Hotel Trento
Grand Hotel Verona
St Regis Hotel Florence

......most replaced by Al Jasera or RT...:1orglaugh

Now, if I want to go to sleep to the monotone voice of Wolf Blitzer, while on the road, I have to get my iPad and hook up to my Slingo in Canada...

do you really think those ~60 televisions make a difference? TV ratings share is based on the number of TVs and an average # of family members per home. besides, CNN airport is not CNN.

I only started thinking about that recently. Their ratings which are in a freefall are largely propped up artificially to begin with. Another thing is that networks like CNN and MSNBC can't really be listened to on Satellite radio because they do so much "human interest" type reports that don't work on radio because its constant dead air. If you try to listen to MSNBC it's mostly that prison show. MSNBC can't even maintain ratings with super cheap to produce reality tv shows.

It's a crazy thing to think about what CNN was when it started and what they are now. They used to be the news authority. Now they are basically drama based reality tv without an interesting cast.

I guess once trumps gone, republicans will be fine with the next president using the presidency to bash and destroy any business they don't like... several times a day, like nothing else better to do right?

Everything trump does now will be used by future politicians and they will refer back to how you allowed it with trump.. so it must be ok.

You're just as bad as CNN, way to distort what the graphic is actually displaying.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.dc8d5377bdff

"The three cable networks were not being compared to each other; instead, poll respondents were asked to compare each network to Trump as a trusted source of information.

Monmouth found that 30 percent of people trust Fox News more than they trust President Trump; 20 percent of poll respondents said trust the president more than they do the network. Thirty-seven percent said they trust both equally"

Unfortunately, it's my understanding thats not factored into the Nielson algorithm. Also, I'm fairly certain that news is a small percentage of what's shown.

They have changed all of that at Nielson because of services like Hulu and other streaming services.

It started up last July and it's called "Out Of Home" measurement. And it DOES include airports.
https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/cnn-...service/336396

And yes...if you have been in any airport in the United States in the "secure" area waiting on a plane...CNN is on every television screen.
The thought when they first did this was that travelers would want to be able to see the news while waiting on their plane...but now CNN is mostly a 24 hour a day anti-Trump propaganda machine, so not sure what the airports can do to get rid of that contract.

Anyway..."Yes" it DOES count in their ratings. And gives them the vast majority of their viewers.
And even that isn't enough to bring them up at all.

If they were to lose that airport contract...you would see their advertisers leave in droves. And the network would have to actually change from being a Democrat Party branch into reporting the news again. (which would be nice)

dyna mo 09-17-2018 04:39 PM

Got it. Thanks for the info, I looked a little deeper and see that only 25% of cnn airport is news and weather, so actually even less than 25% is cnn news.

Does Nielson take that into account?

Hey idiot, try reading the bottom of the article you just linked, "The AP has since corrected its story." which links to the Washington post article I posted. Displaying that poll without an explanation completely distorts what its trying to convey as its not comparing the networks to each other.

Doesnt change the fact that 60% of everything said on FOX is bullshit. But keep whining about some logo FOX accidentally displayed.

At Fox and Fox News, 10 percent of the claims we’ve rated have been True, 11 percent Mostly True, 18 percent Half True, 21 percent Mostly False, 31 percent False and nine percent Pants on Fire.

That means about 60 percent of the claims we’ve checked have been rated Mostly False or worse. Here’s how it breaks down

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/yo...OP88HtXr9ksY4Q

And as for CNN? It has the best record among the cable networks, as 80 percent of of the claims we’ve rated are Half True or better.

Uh...I know that people these days are DELIBERATELY having short memories.
But it was CNN, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC who originally coined the term "Fake News".

Trump merely turned it around on them and then the entire internet started posting them doing "fake news" in videos that then showed how they lied.

So the "sponge heads" were originally people like...YOU. But now that (once again) Trump has turned it around on them and pointed out that they were projecting their own shit...you and the media have conveniently "forgotten" where the term and the ACTUAL "fake news" came from.

Well...the online version is pretty outrageous with it's "opinion" pieces.
If you notice a lot of the time they have their stories on cnn.com marked as "Analysis". And that sounds very official. But it's just Opinion pieces that you would have read in the Editorial section on the last page of the newspaper back in the day.

Plus they tend to run big headlines politically that are anti-Trump and some of the biggest news of the day is "buried" on the site.

Hell, for a while there they were putting up a pop-up with a link to "all the news you may have missed today".
And I thought to myself..."Why would I have missed all this news when I am looking at your FRONT PAGE???"

The answer is clear. They are doing something similar to their television show: Making the "news" all about themselves with opinion pieces covering the front page.

It is easier on the mind to read their opinion pieces as opposed to watching their "talk show" style format on television over and over and over again.

Today they don't have ANY mention at all on CNN.Com's front page of THE biggest story: The de-classification of the Russia probe related documents and FISA warrants.

They simply choose to ignore it because it is something that will tear down the "Russia" narrative.

They VERY briefly spoke about it this morning on John King's show on television (about a 10 second mention of it by King, but no "discussion" follow up at all)...but show a very, very strong LACK of any journalistic curiosity about potential abuse of power by the Obama administration using intelligence resources to spy on an opposing party's campaign.

I mean damn...Nixon didn't even have the balls to do that. Watergate hit the fan from G. Gordon Liddy and his crew breaking into a room and taking some files.
The Democrat administration used the full "crushing" resources of the Dept. Of Justice and FBI to actually SPY on the other campaign and kept it secret.

Remember when Trump accused them of doing exactly that in 2016? And the Obama Admin DENIED it, the FBI DENIED it, and the media (CNN, MSNBC, WAPO, NY TIMES) all LAUGHED at Trump and said he was paranoid.

That was when they THOUGHT Trump was going to lose of course.

If CNN had any journalistic integrity left in them at all...they would be doing investigative reporting on this.
Instead they ignore it and deny it.

I understand most all that. That's why I mentioned I use active reading. I don't think anyone in these threads can claim I'm uninformed. Sure, I have an opinion, but I don't make uninformed opinions or I wouldn't waste time yapping an opinion not based on anything close to reality. I use cnn and many other news outlets to do that.

Sure, cnn isn't perfect, media in it's entirety has real problems right now, I get that. I check out drudge too, heck, I read the gateway pundit and outlets like that. I tend to stay away from Infowars type outfits. Trying to understand both sides by reading both sides versions of reality helps me sort out mine.
