Do you use Facebook? Positive Facebook experience?
I only hear the horror stories about social network sites; but something is good enough for people to keep using things like Facebook.
If you use Facebook for personal things then please tell us why you like it. Don't tell us about how you got traffic for your business. That's off topic Thanks |
I use FB (don't have a mobile phone) for keeping in touch with my daughter who lives away. I also use it to also keep touch with family and friends that no longer live close.
I rarely post status updates. I don't feel the need like so many others to show everyone what I am having for dinner, what I did this morning... ect ect... pretty much it :) |

Facebook is good points and bad points.
Good points. - Free advertising for mainstream. Bad Points - Takes years to develop a base. What you post is only seen by less than 15% of your page likes. If you post links outside FB, you wind up in FB prison and your page views go right down the shitter. If you post any content that is more than PG rated, the FB cops will send you a nasty warning. Then ban you. One of my mainstream pages has over 30,000 likes but the content is only seen by less than 3000 a day. WTF? |
I've alienated my share of women with it. Not a bad tool.
|
It is an easy way to keep in contact with my large family.
It allows me to keep up with events coming up that I might want to attend. Easy to promote my site with my personal FB page. |
it's internet inside internet, you can easily connect with people who have same interests as you, find events, new music, etc etc
|
I do now, but 0 friends. I just use it to advertise mainstream. Facebook was a brain melter for me, useless posts from humans that crave validation.
I'm not against it fully, Like Baddog said, great tool for family and close friends. |
I like it for my son and grandchildren. It gives me a glimpse into their daily lives, and whereas a phone call is often unanswered, a facebook messenger message seems to get a reply within minutes.
|
I initially liked that it was specific for people I went to school with, had to have an alumni email address to join. Now that it is general but homogeneous and it filters who I see and who sees me and tries to manipulate my personal conversations, I look forward to it going the way of MySpace.

Here is the typical Facebook saga I'm used to hearing :
