https://www.2much.net/gfy/131.jpg I finally replaced my old twin iMac27's and replaced it with a single 2018 Mac Mini, and a 49" Ultrawide monitor. I fucking love it. The monitor runs cool, the computer runs cool and makes zero noise, and my is finally clutter free. The monitor is equal to 2 x 27" ones. And look closely at what's on the screen. The desktop is OS/X, but I've got a second OSX and Windows 10 running at the same time in separate windows. I can now work and post anti-trump rants in much more comfort. :) |
I run three smaller monitors. I don't need huge monitors - I don't need 24 inches for Skype. I like running one thing in one monitor.
This my home office a few days ago... https://scontent-sjc3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...d3&oe=5CC2B666 |
Although that huge monitor is bad ass. LOL.
|
I use a bigger monitor too instead of several smaller, right now I have a 35" ultra-wide, works nicely.

You know what? Isn't it cool that we all get to work in the industry that we like, and we get to do it from home, and make our own setup and office just the way we want? Talk about being lucky.. Quote:

I actually have to jump-start my desktop computer . . .
|
Can that thing run in a regular aspect ratio of 16:9 with a resolution lets say 1920x1080? So it will display things only in the middle and the left/right part will be blank?

Nice setup:thumbsup:thumbsup |

Does the screen bother your neck at all? Looking left and right. Or do you find it no different than having multiple monitors? I have multiple monitors but they are at an angle, looking at a big flat screen seems like it would be a bit much. |

Looks really good. I especially like the 2 different instances of OS X running together :)
Enjoy :) |
Pretty cool. Any complaints at all? Can it run all the programs you need?

That is very cool. I am doing some upgrades to my computer system and am thinking of going from 2 24in monitors to one big on like you. I'm glad to hear it works well for you. Do you find yourself missing the dual monitors or is this one big enough it doesn't matter?

To get around this, I connected both the USB-C and an HDMI Cable from the computer and the monitor at the same time, as the monitor actually can operate as 2 x different monitors. The Mac sees it as 2 different monitors too. So after that I place the Mac in extended desktop mode and voila- it works. In fact it might be better for me this way as sharing my screen via Skype for clients would be awful in ultra widescreen format. |
That setup is fuckin awesome! :thumbsup
|
all i can do is wish for this one, awesome!:thumbsup

I love minimalist setups like this one.
|
Amazing, I learn something new every day! Never heard of ultra-wide. Would be better than the laptop+monitor I'm used to. More screen space is always better!
I'm used to having my monitor above my laptop though. I wonder if there is an "ultra-tall" monitor available? |
How do yo like that mac mini?

But I know what you mean. I'm slightly claustrophobic myself. This new monitor takes up less room than my old dual iMac27's so I feel less closed-in. |

looks good :thumbsup

Good stuff.

Great setup. What are the specs on that mac mini to be able to handle OSX and Windows. I've been meaning to do this for Qbooks and other programs. Sick of running to machines.
