That was a good state of the union speech...

...if I didn't already know that Trump was full of shit. It's good for some theatrics, and all of the participants did their part and applauded/stood at the right moments but everyone in the room knows it's all a trainwreck and Trump is the engineer. I turned it off about hallway through to watch a Ray Romano comedy special on Netflix.

RedFred 02-06-2019 08:19 AM

I thought it was poorly delivered and it couldn't have been more obvious Trump was disconnected from what he was saying. He lied so many times they are still adding up the falsehoods.

Busty2 02-06-2019 08:26 AM

I don't watch that twat he is an insult to my intelligence! I'll watch it when we have a real president and not some illiterate Russian puppet!

Admit it, the guy is right about everything he said which means your party is wrong for everything they now stand for (open borders, illegal immigration, globalism, 90% tax rates / marxism, infanticide)

you’d think that’s exactly who you wanted to poll,
but because it’s CNN and it was positive for Trump,
that’s somehow a bad thing.

I didn't watch the whole thing but I'll say that sure, Trump gave a good speech. Lets break it down a little. He was reading from a teleprompter, he said some good things and got applause. All of that is to be expected at a SOTU speech. All past presidents read from teleprompters, and all get more or less than sale reactions and results.

The problem is that Teleprompter Trump is not the real Trump. He, like everyone else, will forget what was said. He will render moot everything in his speech on Twitter or other media in the next little while, wait and see.

King Mark 02-06-2019 10:01 AM

The funniest part was when he stopped reading from the teleprompter and started celebrating the record amount of women in Congress... All the women gave a standing ovation... All the women were on the leftard side lol.

TheSquealer 02-06-2019 10:04 AM

So... everyone that hated him even before he announced his intention to run... hates him today.

What a shock.

Not for nothing, but: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raci...f_Donald_Trump

Both leftards and rightards need to stop being so intellectually lazy.

Trump can't take credit for something that happened without his support.

Rochard 02-06-2019 10:17 AM

Trump's speech last night was ridiculous.

He said El Paso was one of the most violent cities in the country, and after they put up a wall violent crime dropped 34%. Sounds great, doesn't it? Until you dig a little bit and discover that El Paso did in fact had a huge drop in crime.... Before they built the wall.

What's stunning about Trump's statement is not only that it is a complete lie, but that it is so easy to check and discover it's completely false.

Looking over JUST A FEW of the points Trump made at the 2019 SOTU. Hmm, what do we have here?

Quote:

In just over 2 years since the election, we have launched an unprecedented economic boom -- a boom that has rarely been seen before. We have created 5.3 million new jobs and importantly added 600,000 new manufacturing jobs -- something which almost everyone said was impossible to do, but the fact is, we are just getting started.
That's racist.

Quote:

Wages are rising at the fastest pace in decades, and growing for blue collar workers, who I promised to fight for, faster than anyone else. Nearly 5 million Americans have been lifted off food stamps. The United States economy is growing almost twice as fast today as when I took office, and we are considered far and away the hottest economy anywhere in the world.
That's racist.

Quote:

Unemployment has reached the lowest rate in half a century. African-American, Hispanic-American and Asian-American unemployment have all reached their lowest levels ever recorded.
That's racist.

Quote:

Unemployment for Americans with disabilities has also reached an all-time low. More people are working now than at any time in our history --- 157 million.
That's racist.

Quote:

We passed a massive tax cut for working families and doubled the child tax credit.
That's racist.

Quote:

We virtually ended the estate, or death, tax on small businesses, ranches, and family farms.
We eliminated the very unpopular Obamacare individual mandate penalty -- and to give critically ill patients access to life-saving cures, we passed right to try.
That's racist.

Quote:

My Administration has cut more regulations in a short time than any other administration during its entire tenure. Companies are coming back to our country in large numbers thanks to historic reductions in taxes and regulations.
That's racist.

Quote:

We have unleashed a revolution in American energy -- the United States is now the number one producer of oil and natural gas in the world. And now, for the first time in 65 years, we are a net exporter of energy.
That's racist.

Quote:

After 24 months of rapid progress, our economy is the envy of the world, our military is the most powerful on earth, and America is winning each and every day. Members of Congress: the State of our Union is strong. Our country is vibrant and our economy is thriving like never before.
On Friday, it was announced that we added another 304,000 jobs last month alone -- almost double what was expected. An economic miracle is taking place in the United States -- and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics, or ridiculous partisan investigations.
That's racist.

I can honestly make no distinction between this speech, and something that might have come from a cross-burning KKK rally speech. Or am I just a bit biased because I don't agree with Trump politically?

While very sad that was frighting to see:2 cents:

HowlingWulf 02-06-2019 03:25 PM

His speeches are fine when he uses someone else's words.
If that was really how he felt he would probably have more support.
