Trump signs EO to roll our face scans at airports

Imagine all the outrage from the "govt too invasive crowd" if Obama has done this...

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article...ailed-plan-for

In March 2017, President Trump issued an executive order expediting the deployment of biometric verification of the identities of all travelers crossing US borders. That mandate stipulates facial recognition identification for “100 percent of all international passengers,” including American citizens, in the top 20 US airports by 2021. Now, the United States Department of Homeland Security is rushing to get those systems up and running at airports across the country. But it's doing so in the absence of proper vetting, regulatory safeguards, and what some privacy advocates argue is in defiance of the law.

Mr Pheer 03-12-2019 02:45 AM

Your face is on your passport, big deal.

You'd be amazed how many casinos in Vegas use this to spot cheaters that they have banned, and how accurate it is. And they don't tell you they are using it.

Acepimp 03-12-2019 03:11 AM

Crockett is so obsessed with trying to make Trump look bad that he is now against safety measures for international travelers. Clearly OP is "mentally challenged." He still rides the short bus to his Hillary voter support group. It's really just a safe space with finger paint and free hugs.

According to 346 pages of documents obtained by the nonprofit research organization Electronic Privacy Information Center — shared exclusively with BuzzFeed News and made public on Monday as part of Sunshine Week — US Customs and Border Protection is scrambling to implement this “biometric entry-exit system,” with the goal of using facial recognition technology on travelers aboard 16,300 flights per week — or more than 100 million passengers traveling on international flights out of the United States — in as little as two years, to meet Trump's accelerated timeline for a biometric system that had initially been signed into law by the Obama administration. This, despite questionable biometric confirmation rates and few, if any, legal guardrails.
Oh the fucking outrage :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Acepimp 03-12-2019 03:19 AM

Oh, so it was actually Obama! HAHA HAHA Why didn't OP mention that part??

Crockett, it's time to tell your handlers that you are a failure.

They can do a 3d scan from your passport. They will now be saving every person's face scan along with their I'd info tagged to that face scan.

The govt can then track you anywhere they decide to put facial scanners. This is a huge invasion of your privacy..

BaldBastard 03-12-2019 05:29 AM

Australia and New Zealand already have this, makes clearing customs quicker as long as you don't have a technophobe in front of you.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more of an uproar in the USA about it, sure it makes flying easier, but you want to pay particular attention as to how they will secure this info, are you able to remove it? and what other Government departments have access to it & how are they able to use it.... and that's the biggy.

Trump to this by executive order by passing Congress and debate by the will of the people.
Trump literally took privacy away by signing executive order.

Just like Bush, Republicans give no rat's ass about the government intrusion as long as it's Republican government intrusion. they don't give two shits about privacy as long as it's a Republican government taking away your privacy. When a Democrat is in office then it's going to be a big deal.

Snapchat had been doing this for years, of course it's not attached to an ID just your phone number and/or email, which is your unofficial ID online. It's basically the same technology they use for the face filters.

The very slight difference is: It wasn't implemented under Obama just a "Concept of Operations system " as they know its flawed, Trump issued an executive order dictator style for them to roll it out regardless.

Trump signed an executive order to bypass congress and due process.

With the swipe of a pen Trump created this gross invasion of privacy.

Trump made this happen and Trump supporters don't care. Trump supporters accept anything Trump does no matter what. Trumpet strangle a white baby to death on 5th avenue and he wouldn't lose one vote.

In 2014, President Donald Trump railed against then President Barack Obama over his use of executive power on immigration. Fast forward five years and Trump is expected to do the same thing.

"Repubs must not allow Pres Obama to subvert the Constitution of the US for his own benefit & because he is unable to negotiate w/ Congress," Trump said in a tweet on Nov. 20, 2014.

What is this in reference to? DACA? That was just a memo. It wasn't anything official. Trump tried to give amnesty and citizenship to the DACA dreamers. The Democrats REFUSED. Try again. :pimp

This is why congress stalled this, it's flawed tech not ready for roll out AND the public hasn't given their input yet.

Everyone's first security but nobody wants flied tech and no public input.

It's funny how you right wing fuck wits scream the govt take my guns, the govt take my freedom, the govt take my land..

Then when it's Trump doing it you lash out at everyone, deflect & defend because it's your Jesus messiah taking your rights away so that's all ok....

Ask yourself dumb fuck.. if this was going to already go into effect, then why did Trump need to sign a EO? Are you fucking stupid?

Lets just check out the Right wing talking points when Obama was president..

1)The government gonna take ma guns.. Check Trump banned bumpstocks and made it easier to now ban semi autos.

2) The government gonna steal ranchers land to use for conservation or parks.. Check, Trump is right now using immanent domain to steal ranchers land for his wall..

3) The government is too invasive it shouldn't be telling me what to do.. Check, Trump attempts to pass a whole lot of various laws by EO trying to force athorian shit on people, now adds EO to record your bio-metrics and save it in a massive database..

imagine if Obama did all those things..

To be fair, this technology has been in development for a long time, before Trump became President. The bigger problem here though is that everyone is slowly but surely giving up their right to privacy for the promise of security.

I've always been a firm believer in this quote..

Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

One of my biggest complaints about Obama is he didnt undo all the spying the NSA was doing. He didnt put a stop to the last Republican led privacy power grab and now here we are with another Republican president making another power grab at our privacy.

They are also giving states money to put up cameras and license plate readers on all of the interstates.

In the last year they have added cameras up and down i75, i95 and i10 here in FL.

crockett 03-12-2019 02:07 PM

McQeer will now hide from this topic knowing he was too stupid to understand the difference in what Obama signed vs what Trump signed...

You already need a valid photo ID to get on a plane. This is not an invasion of privacy. It's not like they have face scanners on every street corner tracking your every move. Gimme a break.

The Photo ID isn't exactly the issue. The passport information is owned by the government. When your face is scanned at the airport, who owns that data then? What happens with it after they are done?

Don't get me wrong - I'm not exactly against the idea. Identifying bad guys and stopping them from blowing up a plane I am on gives me a warm fuzzy.

I think I am just commenting on much things have changed since 9/11. Your mobile phone carrier, Google and facebook know where you are. Advertisers know what you are likely to buy. My own home security system even has facial recognition.

It's just ... weird.

Congress blocked this and Trump signed an executive order to bypass them today and roll this out.

Trump is putting this out there against the will of the people via Congress.

This is 100% Trump's fault

It's not just your face. They are databasing everything. Your travels will not be in a data file attached to your name. They are tracking license plates as well and storing all the data.

You have the right to your privacy and not to be tracked by your govt.

A facial recognition scanner for international travelers is the least of your worries if you're getting all ruffled up about how the government stores information and tracks you :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

You should be much more worried about that phone in your pocket.

BaldBastard 03-12-2019 10:32 PM

The major issue to consider is what other Government agency's get access to the information, its certainly not something you want rammed up your ass via executive order.

If there's a bad man headed to the airport, why wait till the airport to get him? Let's implement bio scanning in traffic cameras and get them before they even reach the airport! then feed that info to local cops so they can arrest.

Seems smart, until you get pulled up because someone sitting in your back seat, had outstanding traffic fines from 1997 and the facial recognition finally got them.

or you go to a football game and find yourself arrested and removed over those late child payments you haven't made.

As for phones..

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...110700006.html

I told you guys many times the way they get around this in the USA now is by collecting the data here in Aus, if information is going via satellite, its logged and recorded at PineGap.

Hence why those that had accesses to the info... have been the most concerned about the Trump administration. However bringing it into a civil court is the difficult bit..
