Epic in so many ways and so many levels. Sometimes, real life creates a scenario that plays out on its own with such utter perfection. This could not have been planned, scripted, dialoged, or acted better than how it played out naturally. Laughed till I was in tears years ago, and I still laugh at it.

His voice has always amazed me. You think of great singers and Michael Jackson comes up or Whitney Houston. Smokey has been around for decades and still sounds great. Never had controversy surrounding him, didn’t have eight marriages, no drug abuse and no rape accusations. He’s a Boy Scout and vastly underrated.

I thought the woman in the video was Queen Latifah at first. Another of my idols, her coming out was not for attention or controversy. She was just honest and her voice is incredible, too. Great rapper and singer, especially the old songs from underrated black female singers.

And, yes, I realize that they are all black but it isn’t racism. Many black kids were forced into church and the choir and learned to sing. Many were poor and couldn’t afford skating, scouts, bikes,etc. They used their time wisely and stayed focused.

I had this discussion a few weeks ago with a bigot who said that all black people learned to sing to get out of the ghetto. I called her an asshole which didn’t go over well. I defended my statement and refused to apologize until she did for her racism. She did, I did, and race discussions aren’t going to happen again.

I rarely if ever use the C word but in her case, it’s accurate.
