Anyone ever run mainstream exposure campaigns on PornHub?
Curious if anyone has ever run mainstream (non nutra/penis pill) ads on PornHub just for brand exposure? Not sure if it's even permitted.
I have a mainstream business that produces boutique in house goods (80% male demos). Stuff most men are interested in. Porn hub/traffic junky would be the only consideration because of their mainstream bend, and I'm certainly not looking for instant productivity, more like long term exposure on the cheap. Has anyone ever done this? |

If you're going to run a branding campaign and don't have any type of KPIs other than the number of impressions, then yeah, Pornhub is a good source (as well as most other adult sites). Will that exposure lead to sales or help get your brand known? Well you'd probably have to follow-up with a mainstream PR campaign talking about your adult campaign to get noticed. |
proper advertising first is about understanding the entire customer journey and thought processes and user motivation. what they value. in what order they value it. where they are in their thinking in that exact moment etc.
most of what works on adult, is catering more to impulse driven behaviors. like facebook, but more twisted. trying to sell something besides sex or something with a very strong sex related, impulse appeal to someone whos brain is only thinking about sex is always doomed to be a failed idea. trying to get someone to think about a product or service which has absolutely no relationship to the content/site they are on is always doomed to be a failed idea. When someone is on pornhub, their motivation follows this basic pattern in terms of the order of importance / motivation 1) beat off 2) find someone to fuck right now (dating) 3) grow your dick and fuck all the time (male enhancement) 4) learn how to meet more chicks and fuck more (PUA) 5) go to cam site and tell girl what to do and pretend she likes you (cams) 6) join a porn site and beat off (nearly an impossible thing to sell when its this far down the list) (this is reflected in ad types, breakdown by ad types) and a very distant 7th is "anything else" The problem is that you are going to be paying ad prices based on the success of the prior 6, mostly number 1. They are determining what you'll be paying for traffic to send to an less appealing offer, a less appealing message etc. They will convert infinitely better, lifetime values are decent, you can continue to upsell the other 4 to the same market etc etc etc etc etc. Trying to sell anything else in that environment is not a wise idea and doomed to fail. It would be no different than going to a PETA forum and trying to sell steaks. It doesn't matter how many people are on the PETA forum, how active it is, how many ad spots they sell, how much money others make on ads there etc etc etc etc.... they are not buyers. |
This mainstream ad popped up on Pornhub last week and I got a good laugh. https://thefreedom.store/on/trump-coin/shop/
I thought about emailing the offer to Rochard, Bladewire and Crockett. |
There was a danish politician who bought ads on Pornhub recently https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/15/w...n-pornhub.html

I remember reading case study of some burger chain running ads there, so yes it can be done.

There is a thread on this forum about Diesel running ads on pornhub.com. I was explaining how futile it was while others were reminding me that they were geniuses. Of course Diesel later filed bankruptcy..... but that's none of my business.
There were 4Loco ads on pornhub recently. ANYONE can waste money on pointless ads at a high cost and with no measurable result. If you can't do it to make a profit with a strong offer and landing page,... why in the hell would anyone think its having a meaningful impact otherwise, when the cost is the same?? That's incredibly short sighted and naive... and not at all how marketing/advertising works. |
Interesting input, thanks fellas.
I should point out that 100% of my income from adult is derived from paid traffic. With that said, I've never done any long term mainstream branding campaigns for this type of in house business/products. My only interest would be in Porn Hub - as I think that's the only site with real mainstream crossover.. (There is a safety associated with porn hub). I'm keenly aware of surfer psychology for this demo, and I wouldn't be looking for immediate productivity.. More along the lines of brand awareness. My only real concern is associations with quality, being that it's boutique.. quality is a major point of service. Just looking for extra ways to come out of the gate strong and get a one up on similar small businesses run by hipsters. The actual branding is perfect, site design, logos, name, etc. Outside of sending pieces out for product reviews, blogs, the actual website, seo, a sister etsy site (with paid traffic campaigns), pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook.. I thought throwing some money at porn hub specifically might help with brand awareness. My only real fear is any unwanted associations. Which is a similar concern about running the products on eBay to funnel away traffic to the dedicated. |

Actually Eat24 did it as well. Those outside large cities may not know them, but they are a pretty popular aggregated delivery service that cultivates a "lazy is good" "no pants" irreverent attitude.
I believe they concluded that is was not profitable for them, and they talked about it, but I'm too lazy to google it for you. Bottom line is it may happen one day, but mainstream on porn is still very much in its infancy. |

However, if you run a PH campaign AND have a follow-up campaign to create a buzz around your product being on PH... THEN you might achieve what I think you're trying to achieve. |
