Broken Ankle

Has anyone ever broken their ankle? If so, how long until it heals?

King Mark 09-27-2019 04:00 PM

It never really heals

no ankle break but I broke a few ribs in a car wreck once.. Let me tell you driving 90mph is fun till you stop on a dime in a car that doesn't normally stop on a dime

You can recover from it, but it'll never fully heal.

Once you go sprain . . .

I read that it never heals but thought it was bullshit. I guess I’m glad I can’t walk and screw it up.

Doctor wrote a prescription for medication and the pharmacy can’t read it. So I have to wait until Monday for meds. The on-call doctor wasn’t sure what the correct dosage was supposed to be. I asked for something like Percocet until Monday but they said to wait.

Right. Tomorrow I get a boot or inflatable cast with Velcro. I’m going to ask them for meds until Monday at least.

Every other doctor prints out prescriptions and I thought my PCP would as well. They should require a typed form of the script for issues like this. I hear these horror stories about doctors and hospitals but until you have them happen to you, they sound like fantasies.

No screaming woman today but an accident in the parking lot as I came out had loud voices yelling. Woman had no brake lights and the car behind her slammed into her but not too hard. Fortunately the accident was not close to the van and we left without a problem.

These old buildings have small lots and people are in a hurry.

Not sure about the ankle but I've broken my wrists multiple times doing stupid shit as a kid. Whenever the weather starts changing, usually summer to fall/winter and winter to spring it's seriously painful, even all these years later. Nothing much you can do.

Okay.

I have an air cast which is an inflatable ankle wrap. I was told to see an orthopedist this week so Monday I’ll try to find one.

The Oxycodone helps a lot.

yes, i broke my ankle about 10 years ago now, it took about 3 or 4 weeks before I could have the cast off :2 cents:

I actually went different direction, by doing more activity(including stretching) and now is back. Perhaps i could just stuff my self with vicodine ? :1orglaugh

definitely doing activity is good, but do give yourself plenty of rest too, so the ligaments can relax and get together after the exercise and stretching.

The vicodine sounds good too though :winkwink: :1orglaugh

I broke my ankle twice now it is horrible and will take 3 months before you start to feel relief any cold winter and you will feel the ache come back.

Ugh. I’m trying to move and would prefer being healed while moving. It might take eight weeks until I can move which is November cold weather.

Almost half a century of no broken bones despite walking forty of those years. Now I’m immobile and a bone breaks.
