Fake invoices for domain renewals
I got a few emails from Paypal for fake invoices for domain renewals. The email headers weren't forged and came from [email protected] While the scam may be obvious to most of you, this is a warning to the others.

Thanks for the head's up. :thumbsup
I get 'reset password' emails from my "bank" sometimes and damn if they don't look real. Until you look VERY closely. You gotta be so careful clicking ANY links in an email these days it seems. |
This is why domain industry has poor reputation. With registrars sending out invoices admin people without a clue renew the name all seems fine except paying 1000% more than required at times. There are also the total fake fishing where just send invoice with a paypal address etc. But screw the actual registrars trying it.

yep, receive these fake ones all the time.

been getting those every day for the last ten years or so... they used to even snail mail them to me
|
I ignore these all the time. Some of them look legit until I see $86.00 per year.

Theres a new one, the look up your hosting provider and send you a warning email to pay...the email looked 100% legit with the hosting companys graphics and logos...they copied a real email and went to great lengths to make it look totally real...the only thing they got wrong was my hosting fee they picked one of the other hosting packages on the website...I suspect they will do this to all larger providers...
