Fuck android, see you soon

Android is getting shittier and shittier with each update, and it's positively infuriating.

What used to be a nice concise operating system is now cluttered to the max with needless options and features that do nothing except try to obfuscate their balls to the wall assault on your privacy settings.

Chrome now saving the contents of your clipboard, more and more difficult to tighten up all of your privacy settings.. Making those same settings go bye bye with an update.

It's fucking bold as hell, and I can only hope people are paying attention and end up going the other way with it, going with an iPhone out of pure spite.

It's buy a new computer and spend the next two hours uninstalling bloat ware version 2.0 all over again. Absolute tat..

Sorry for the rant but fuck these scumbags. Just spent the last 45 minutes undoing a recent update on my mothers phone she accidentally hit the button I guess). Ended up just saving her data and wiping the phone back to factory.. Like a 3 year old OS.

So much better..

Google is really going after that whole evil corporate big brother all seeing eye of Soron thing with a passion aren't they? Chrome is abhorrent.

First iPhone of my life - here I come.

Got something you like, that works with little hassle? Don't update.

klinton 01-17-2020 07:20 PM

why u ever use chrome?

What android phone were you using?

Can't blame you. The back button - the thing that made android great - was being pushed away and replaced with gestures (you can re-engage it by going into the settings, but still a nuisance), taking away the biggest reason someone would choose android over iOS.

Been iphones and macs here since 2007. I bought a mac pro mid 2010 that I just retired last month and bought another new mac pro. I couldn't be more happier. I do keep a win laptop for some shit but other than that I use my mac 98% of the time.

Apple should be launching a 5g iPhone in 2020 :thumbsup

You mean "hard" back button ?

BigFurry 01-18-2020 04:18 AM

I like Android better for its configurability and because it's a more open system.

But the different directions Google and Apple have been taking regarding privacy also made me consider switching to an iPhone in the future.

It's great that Apple is consistently making its users' privacy a primary goal now.

That's basically my take away as well.

Google is going full "evil dictator" after all of your info.

Would be such a smart move for apple to continue going the opposite direction.

I have the s10+ rung android 10, , the new privacy stuffing it takes care of apps trying to track you, each app that wants to know you location hastings ask your permission, they have tightened up security akot. Apple is to restrictive, you can only run the apps they let you, customization is almost nil, all the settings in android allows you to make it as secure as you want and as customized as you want.

Yep, runnin' s10plus with android v10 here and have no issues.

I like my iPhone and iMac quite a bit but last night I spent 45 minutes trying to download a video directly to my iPhone, from a direct URL, with absolutely no luck. Guy next to me had an Android and hit one button and the video downloaded no problem.

Downloaded the file on my Mac to the new Music app (no iTunes?) and then will sync. Absolutely infuriating that something so simple is made so difficult.

Also disappointed in the lack of growth in Siri over the last 10 years, which is why I bought my first Apple product.

thezio 01-20-2020 01:58 AM

Been using Iphone since I stopped using Sony Xperia. Don't wanna go back to Android anymore..

venus 01-20-2020 01:05 PM

Want privacy? Get a burner phone, that's what they're for. :)

Has anyone here tried running this: https://postmarketos.org ?

george MH 01-22-2020 02:24 PM

and IPhone is also for those who are not sensitive for prices and sensitive for precise techniques.

2MuchMark 01-22-2020 09:12 PM

I like my iPhone a love my Mac and os. The only Product that Apple is lagging on is Siri. While it is the most secure, I think that google assistant is better. Google nest home works so well that I may switch my smart home hub to google.

thissss and my favourite 'disable app' - no delete available. Wonderful, a device that has mcafee as default software that can't be deleted :1orglaugh

You're right about Siri..it's complete shit! The dictation is awful. But I never had a windows PC last me 10 years. The only problem I ran into with my Mac Pro mid 2010 was that I couldn't upgrade from MacOS Sierra because it was incompatible with my graphics card...other than that I got 10 years out of it with zero issues.

I found this article about pros ans cons apple/android pretty fair.
https://www.cnet.com/news/ios-13-vs-...oogle-compare/

I'm an android guy and I'm just delighted every day by my pixel 4. But I have to say that the iphone 11 pro is appealing :)

King Mark 01-23-2020 10:11 AM

^Pixel 4XL over here too.

I'm happy af. It took me about 2 hours to get over the swiping tho. I found it retarded that Google results have some horizontal scrolling and if you tried it on this phone it was like hitting the back button. But once that was done and figured out, best phone I ever had.

^ This. For a casual phone user. But I'm not a casual one and I need to get maximum from the OS. That's why I choose Android :)

P.S. If I was a casual phone user I would stick with the most greatest phone ever made: Nokia 3310. It's like AK47 or Colt 1911 in the phone world :thumbsup

Same here, but, there is actually a work-around. I really wanted the new OS on my 2008 (!) mac and I was eventually able to install it via a hack. I forget what it was called now but if you Google "Installing Catalina on an old Mac" you should be able to find it.

I ended up selling 2 out of my 3 iMac 2008,2010, but still have the 2013 iMac. I decided to keep it and will swap the HDD for an SSD this spring. It works so well that there's just no reason to sell it.

The Dictation doesn't work well, you're right. But everything else? Perfection.

I am still using an iPhone 7 Plus. My GF picked up the iPhone 11 Pro though, and its ... yummy. I want to buy one but I will wait until next September when Apple rolls out its latest magic.

I never really understood the appeal of those phones. I think maybe it was because it wasn't comfortable to hold. (I have big hands and long fingers maybe).

I kept almost every phone I've ever owned. I have every iPhone back to the iPhone 3, but I have a Motorola Moto Flip, a Samsung flip and a bunch of others. I would love to still have the original Motorola Flip phone from ... shit when was it... the 90's? The 80's? The one with the red LED display and the 30 minutes talk-time battery? Retrotech is cool.

MaDalton 01-23-2020 02:31 PM

nowadays I work on both - side by side - MacOS/iPhone and Windows/Android - and Apple makes me want to scream all the time for making things complicated that are super easy on Windows/Android.

And not even starting on the developer limitations of Apple iOS.

It's a very reliable phone with a strongest carrier. It's easy in use and it has everything to make/receive a phone call. You may not charge it for a half of a year if you don't use it and it still be working. I don't know a better phone actually. Nokia 3310 - Wikipedia

As about big hands and long fingers. I have mentioned Colt 1911. To be honest it's hard to me to remove it from delay because my fingers are not long enough, but it's still one of my favorite guns :)

A summation: nothing is ideal, but something is always better for you personally.

that's my thinking. I never went mac because I don't want in the mac ecosystem, just like I wouldn't want to eat every meal at mc donalds :2 cents:
