OMG... that is incredible. Can you tell me about this image? How do you get the water to look like that, etc?

And this one:

Is this at night? And if so, what's the ISO and where's all the noise usually associated with the black in an image like this?

it is bokeh. the lens elements are creating that from lack of focus.... the focal plane is set on the boat and everything before and after the boat is out of focus. you can tell is is a 'long telephoto lens' with the image shot at low depth of feel. notice how the boat itself as no 3rd dimension? look at the water and you can see where the focus is. a narrow area in the center of the image. the long lens compresses the image. look at the light, he has the sun off to camera left. see the edge on the boat hull? notice the water going from light to dark?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focal-plane_shutter

on the second image, for one thing this is a top pro camera. over 6k and the lens probably has a similar price if not more. just guessing the then lense.

https://www.adorama.com/us%20%20%201...xoCufAQAvD_BwE $15,500 used

not sure what lens he used I would need to 'study the video' but something like this. he is shooting into the sun, opposed to the first image with the sun camera left, so to expose the sail correctly without losing detail puts the rest of the image in shadow.... look at the water spray.

the entire point of a 6K+ camera body is no noise in the shadows. possibly shot at low ISO as well. I shoot at 100 ISO, 500th @ F8-11 in full sunlight.... this is probably F5.6 @2000th- 2500th... see how the water spray is captured? pretty fast shutter with higher ISO..... maybe 2000 (just guessing, these are the numbers I would start at)

look at the focus on this image

https://img3.foto.by/photos/dfbdd/ea...a837b4e558.jpg

could be F5.6, probably F8, but the lens is only 200mm at most . longer the lens the flatter the image. most guys like to use the 70-200mm it's the cheapest way to go, +/- $2000

Marco P might have a better idea than I do. Marco, Dean and I are the only 'photographers' I know of here at GFY $.02

Not a camera for a novice. Your Google pixel will work better unless you know what you are doing and plan to make money with your camera and lenses. Or just have a nice whole in your pocket for your hobbies. But this is one that can be frustrating and expressive as a hobby.

I'm a 30 year pro, I have plans to make money. The Samsung galaxy shoots great pics and video however limted for pros.... many because I would not be taken seriously if I showed up with just my phone.

And not very many people need a 20k lens or know what yo do with it

I do
