Average minimum price for gas car is 10000$ so i doubt anyone who make electric can beat that, at-least not in this time frame.

September 19, 2019 02:43 PM Renault launched its first China-built electric vehicle, the Renault K-ZE, at an auto show this month in the south China city of Chengdu. The subcompact crossover targets urban commuters and is priced from 61,800 yuan ($8,729) to 71,800 yuan after government subsidies, according to Dongfeng-Renault, Renault’s passenger vehicle joint venture with Dongfeng Motor. The low-cost EV has a range of 271 kilometers (168 miles) and a maximum speed of 105 km per hour (65 mph). |

I heard that the batteries are the most expensive thing. At least it's less ugly than this: Ségolène Royal veut davantage d'incitations pour la voiture électrique |

There has to be a trick.
I doubt that the price of the lithium dropped that much. Edit: https://www.smart-energy.com/industry-sectors/storage/cell-prices-for-lithium-ion-batteries-to-decline-by-46/ If this news is right, the price of the car is may be set according to a forecast of a price drop for lithium batteries. 5 years ago they used to explain that you can't have a cheap electric car, because battery are expensive. Like they have to be in the 20000 or 30000 EUR range. |
Yeah but its just for the Chinese market, built by a Chinese company that puts the name Renault on it...
|
Looks really nice for that money. Wondering how much it will be when hitting EU
|
In Europe they might sell it under different brands - like Dacia or Lada.

Made in China to be sold in China. So no duties and tariffs.
Government subsidies. Can be done for that price point. |
Star Wars fans heads up! :)
|
I wonder what the range is

"The cheapest version of this Renault baby retails for a mere $8,700, or four times cheaper than the cheapest Tesla." :thumbsup
