UK Business Bank Accounts

What UK Business Bank Accounts (for ltd company) do people recommend for adult affiliates (cams). Most of them don't seem allow adult?

NatalieK 10-01-2020 01:59 PM

never had a problem with our business bank account with Natwest bank...

Gspot Productions...

If you want to bank on island better go to Ireland, too many limitations will be soon with UK banking.

rastan 10-01-2020 03:47 PM

Yup, we use Natwest also.
When you set up, you dont need to be explicit in declaring what your business will be for. Just say 'Web design and marketing'. Its true, fits in their little drop down list of industries and is generic enough not to raise any eyebrows.

How long ago did you open the natwest account?

From what i've read here :

https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-...or-ltd-company

They ask lots of in-depth questions so I won't be bothering with them

It was maybe .... 9 years or so ago I guess.
I don't recall a huge amount of in depth questions, to be fair. I just don't need you need to be explicit in what you say you do. Give it a go. Whats the worst they can do? Say no?

Once paid in a ccBill cheque into Natwest business account, was a one-off as usually paid into Halifax personal account, the woman at Natwest asked "what the cheque was payment for" and I simply replied "commission" and shortly after received a your account will be closed in 28 days letter.

Now I use Monzo, simply register a personal account, quick selfie and photo of ID and you're active fast, then you get the option to create a business account. Never any probs with Monzo so far.

Dumb question but do Monzo offer all the regular features of a traditional bank such Direct debits/standing orders/making instant payments to others/bank card etc etc?

I've looked into it and they don't offer IBANs and they don't seem to be doing too well :

rastan 10-02-2020 05:30 AM

I'd maybe even be careful with Monzo

What did the cheque have written on it? Did it just say CCBILL or something else as well?

LouiseLloyd 10-02-2020 11:38 AM

Mondo business UK able to accept IBAN payments, UK FPS, payments to debit card received by PayPal and Paxum. Not had a single problem with personal or business, likewise with similar app only banks. Very quick to setup especially if limited company. Owt goes wrong simply switch to another similar provider. Also Any money in your Monzo account is fully protected up to £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). That means that if Monzo ever went out of business, you'd get your money back up to £85,000. Read more about the FSCS.

I used https://www.iban.com/calculate-iban to calculate IBAN from sort code and account number and like I said never had a problem, not even a delay. I did try using IBAN with personal account when they first came out and wouldn’t work, but perhaps they have changed or different for business. Just sharing my experience.

That's bizarre, I must have been paying CCBill, RR Processing and whatever other cheques into Barclays for over 12 years now, never a question asked.

magneto664 10-05-2020 02:04 PM

Barclays bank, Mettle Bank (part of Natwest bank) and Starling Bank.
No problem! All work fine.

I'm guessing the string 'CCBILL' triggers an alert on some banks systems. I don't promote anything CCBILL so shouldn't have that problem.

Most of the affiliates I promote pay through PAXUM, its only a few low-profile ones that I'll need a bank account for.

Did Mettle ask lots of questions? Also is the Mettle application all through live chat and online forms or is their a branch visit / phone call / post forms involved as well?

These days it is very hard to set up business account pretty much anywhere in EU, especially in the UK unless you provide the utility bills, mobile bill to prove address (has to match your business name too, yep you need a physical location etc... this is a somewhat new rule with Visa since 4-5yrs ago.
I'm looking to set up a UK commercial account, if anybody has connections to a person / hookups, could you please hit me up? Skype (webgurl2) email webgurl AT Gmail dotcom. Thanks

Are you talking about non resident directors? I am resident so I don't think it should be a problem.

I'm planning on using accountants address for registered office and directors service address.

And the 'trading address' that I give to the banks will by my own address, I can provide bills but they will be in the my address and name and not the business name. Do you think this will be a problem?

EDIT: Revolut allows using personal address if working from home (like me) so it should be OK as I'd assume other banks would be same rules : https://www.revolut.com/en-IS/busine...-presence-mean

Why did you want to incorporate in the UK? Is it the 19% tax rate?
