Video Editing

Hi, Have a question for all the great video editors here:thumbsup I am getting ready to edit a couple of videos shot in .wmv Should I go ahead and edit in the format it was shoot in? Or, should I convert to H264 and then edit the video?

Thanks

I suggest mp4 H264

I keep mine in the original source(and codex) and export(render) it to MP4 (AVC/AAC) before I upload it to YT.
My drones record in H.265, to its a extra step, but I can live with that for the moment.

Id say no matter what format your source material is in, try and edit using that natively wherever you can. Don't forget, every time you recompress footage you're running a risk of it degrading and compressing, even a little bit.

If your edit software allows you to edit using the WMV source, edit with that.

How was it shot in wmv? Anyways, import it and render out to an mp4. Mess with a few settings for optimal quality. Size shouldnt be an issue in 2020. You don’t have the raw file? M2t, avi, mxf? I don’t know what camera shoots natively to wmv. The quality must be pretty dated, no?
