Now seems like a really good time to be black in America
Tyler Perry is a billionaire while his highest rated movie from what I can tell is rated only a 5.9 out of 10 on IMDB. It also appears that most of his movies are below a 5 out of 10 on IMDB. I have only seen one of his movies which I believe was 'Madea goes to Jail' (2009) IMDB 4.5/10 which I watched with two young black women and I believe I was only able to get through the movie because I was high as giraffe pu$$y.
This leads me to believe if I were also black I could make awful movies geared towards black audiences and still become filthy rich, but unfortunately I'm white and would be accused of "cultural appropriation". Instead, I have to compete against the likes of Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino etc.. Here are Tyler's highest rated movies: Why Did I Get Married? (2007) - IMDB 5.9 / 10 Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2005) - IMDB 5.8 / 10 Madea's Witness Protection (2012) - IMDb 4.9 / 10 Madea's Big Happy Family (2011) - IMDB 4.9 / 10 I Can Do Bad All by Myself (2009) - IMDB 4.5 / 10 For contrast, Quentin Tarantino is worth "only" $120M while being considered the greatest director of his generation. Pulp Fiction (1994) - IMDB - 8.9 / 10 Inglourious Basterds (2009) - IMDB 8.3 / 10 Reservoir Dogs (1992) - IMDB - IMDB 8.3 / 10 Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) - IMDB 8.1 / 10 True Romance (1993) - IMDB 8.1 / 10 I understand both directors are independent filmmakers. I just don't understand the discrepancy of net worths between the two. Is it quantity over quality in this case? So I would like to ask the brilliant minds of GFY, what are your thoughts on this? |
I don't trust any movie now after witnessing the hideous mess that was "Tenet".
I've been scarred for life... :helpme |

Tyler Perry movies funny to his culture, if you go to black American church or live in black American house hold you can relate. Quentin Tarantino movies are more action and have bigger budgets, than Tyler. Quentin makes great great over all movies

I don't see any argument in there . . .

So I posted this on Reddit. What do you guys think happened?

Bad comparison though, Tyler Perry has full ownership over his brands and retains a greater share of revenues than Quentin Tarantino does.
Part of his net worth includes a $280m studio which other productions like Walking Dead are filmed at. He also equity in BET+. I love Tarantino, but he is an artist who just writes and directs and releases the occasional movie. Tyler Perry is a businessman. :2 cents: |
According to Reddit, I'm a racist piece of shit for asking this.

Reddit thread was up for 2 hours before it was deleted by the mods.

If I were racist, would I be smoking weed and watching a Tyler Perry movie with two black chicks??

They all laughed at the idea of Quentin Tarantino being even close to the best director of his time. I asked someone who they thought was the best director and this was their response:
"LOL. IMO Kelly Reichardt or Josephine Decker. But there is also Wong Kar-Wai, Céline Sciamma, Todd Haynes, Jim Jarmusch, Michael Haneke or the Coen Bro’s. Maybe Charlie Kauffman or Claire Denis. Filmmakers who are pushing the medium forward through an incredibly unique vision while being socially relevant and addressing massive themes that our world universally goes through on a day to day. Like dealing with people such as yourself." I don't consider myself a movie/film expert by any means, but I've only heard of the Coen brothers from that list. I came up with the comparison of Tyler to Tarantino to compare their financial success, not social or innovative impact. |
fuck it, here's the thread https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comm...to_be_a_black/

And you're right, Tarantino is one of the greatest of our generation. |

Holy shit. They just removed my post "What if I told you guys I were black? Would you still call me racist?" for fear that I could be black and they called a black guy racist. Absolutely hilarious.

Open your eyes. He's black. Mainstream media is brainwashing you into a thinking black people can be a better business man than any white person. Soros is behind this black hoax, backdoor funding Tyler's black bank account via black jewish space lasers through Bidens black laptop in a secret invisible basement under a black Chinese restaurant. And no, I'm not racist. I smoked weed with a black girl before. Im just awakened to the black agenda by the communist "woke" overlords to make black people seem like they can be successful. Im a true patriot and spreader of truth being unconstitionaly censored by the United States of reddit. |
