Linux On Windows - Fucking Brilliant!..
I heard about this but never thought much of it - https://itsfoss.com/install-bash-on-windows/
It is Ubuntu with Bash and it installs as a Windows App using WSL - It's totally seamless - No dual boot, virtual machines or any of that shit... You guys have probably been using it forever and I am behind the times as usual - I'm just blown away by it..... |
What would be the purpose? To learn how to use Linux? Is there a good reason for this? I mean Linux is mean and lean on it's own, is it still lean and mean inside of Windows?

It's not for production stuff - More for dev - For example, I can have Apache, NGINX servers etc. running in Linux on my Windows machine locally - I am also playing with Node and Ruby ATM - It can be a bitch getting them to run well on Windows - I can now use them in Windows but running smooth as silk in Linux!.. |

Nothing new, it's been on windows for ages but with different name. But i still preffer to use linux for doing linux stuff then those surrogates.

Interesting. Would it be a good option for me to learn how to use Linux without having to dedicate a machine to it? Or better if I used an old laptop and just installed and learned it there?
