If someone handed you a gun what do you do?
 

Personally, I make sure it's not loaded.

Each time I've been handed a gun the 1st thing I've always done is check to see if it's
loaded or not.

I don't accept guns from random people.

The first thing I do when I touch a firearm, whether it's being handed to me or whether I'm merely picking it up. First thing, every time.

If some random guy is standing there with a gun I'd rather have the fucking gun lol

I mean, if another person is handing me a gun, I expect them to clear the chamber and remove the magazine beforehand, unless they're handing it to me to fire it - then I still expect them to clear the chamber and make sure the safety(if available) is enabled.

First rule of gun safety: treat all guns as if they are loaded.

You should not "expect" them to do that. The have to SHOW you the empty chamber and no clip before handingover the firearm. And even then, assume it is loaded.

First thing they teach you when you go to a shooting range the first time is to always make sure the gun is not loaded when you hand it to someone, and when you receive it you also check.

The armorer should have checked that the gun was not loaded when giving it to him, and Baldwin should have checked it was not loaded the second he was handed it...

I know that I'll safely handle a gun but I can't guarantee the person handing it to me will.

Depends on the situation. I would most probably not pick a gun, if I do not have to use it right away or clean it.

It's actually amazing for shit like that, reheated fried food tastes pretty much the same as when it was fresh.

Why is the whole gun issue a big deal? Guns are a part of most people’s lives. And if someone hands you a gun: they should show you that it’s unloaded by taking the magazine out of of it and locking the slide back so that no round is left. Revolvers, are just as easy with the wheel.

My only gun experience was two time on shooting range event on TES, so it is quite simple - to follow instructor instructions.

First thing you do is check to see if it's loaded.

When I was in the Marine Corps we had barrels filled with sand titled at an angle, and in the even you had a weapon on you it was required that you dry fired into the barrel of sand. Not once in four years did I ever hear of anyone firing a live round into one of those barrels. I could only imagine what would have happened if they did.

Depends on the situation. If it's a random dude, don't take the gun! If it's in the shooting range, and the instructor is giving it to you, you can take it, just don't point it at people. Simple as that.
In the army, we were required to remove the clip first, cock the gun, to be sure no bullets are left, and then point the gun into the ground and make a safety shot.

Well that depends on where you live. In Canada guns are a big deal and no one is going to simply hand one to you much less carry one. That being said - I would never take it - whether loaded or not - you have to ask, "why?" since it will then be your prints on a weapon so if it's used for illegal activity guess who the police will assume did it?

Well if I'm Alec Baldwin I aim it at someone, fire, then blame someone else when they end up dead.

Think about it for a moment and ask yourself, what if the person handing you the gun is an
actual murderer?

Do you really want a killer having a gun?

The same can be said about someone that's depressed, nervous, confused or just an untrained
moron that's never handled a gun before.

Letting someone that you don't know be the only person in the room with a gun is a level
of trust that I'm not capable of. So if they're handing it to me... I'm taking it.

Even if he did check the gun, wouldn't be expecting it to possibly be loaded with blanks? i am not familiar with guns but is it easy to tell a blank from a real bullet?

personally i wouldn't be surprised if Baldwin was set up. Either that or just really sloppy stupid people on set.

Valid point but now you also have your fingerprints on a gun that was possible recently used in a crime.

Sometimes in life you need to chose the lessor of 2 evils.

A) You might have legal problems because your prints are on it.

B) You might get a bullet going through your head.


If you're afraid that you might be framed for murder then you're effectively saying the guy
handing you the gun might be a murderer
