There is no Planed Obsolescence in porn

Cliff's Notes : Porn products don't expire (at least not fast enough).

True that memberships expire though.

Not planned however technological advances make dated porn unmarketable.

I disagree. "Dated porn" is what we call vintage, or retro, or classic, and it sells very well.

There is a market for everything. You just have to figure out where that market is and how to attract it :2 cents:

I mean shit, people are STILL buying 8-bit images as NFTs....

You can say the same thing about "vintage" iPhones. I can still sell my iPhone 5 at this refurbishing place up the block from my condo, but it doesn't sell quite as well as the iPhone 13 so meh

If it's not 4k or better now, it won't sell as well.

I think what you meant to say was, it wont have as large an audience as most high-def porn does but it will sell (to those that search it out) and will retain much better than your standard hi-def porn site.

The people who look for vintage, retro, classic content, know what they want and will stick around when they find it, especially if the members area offers regular updates which, on older style porn, is a LOT more cost-effective for the site owner to do than having to shoot new, custom HD shoots every few weeks.

The classic porn niche should be treated as any other porn niche, offer the surfers what they want and they will join, they'll also retain like crazy as long as you can give them regularly updated content... Just like any other micro-niche paysite member will.

But yet, you still made money from something you no longer use on a regular basis.

Its cost of production vs. income.

If you already own older content, why not monetize it? otherwise its just sitting there doing absolutely nothing for your business. :helpme

100% Correct.

I've got the old micro niche fetish stuff that I used to shoot back in 08/09 - It paid for itself MULTIPLE times over back in the day...

However, its not even HD :(

But I leave it on C4S and do ZERO promotion at all, and it doesn't cost me a single penny to have it there - Still brings in an average of $100 per month...

Sure, you cant live off $100... I know that... But its still over a grand a year !!!

A grand a year, that I'd be leaving on the table, if I'd just though 'Nahhh... This is too old - Not even HD - No one will want this.. I'll just do nothing with it...'

If you have old content, MAKE IT AVAILIBLE ! Costs you nothing to do so... Nothing at all...

Exactly how I started and still do to this day: find content that has not been monetized well or at all and put it out there. Classic stuff, vintage whatever, does extremely well. The issue is getting traffic to the vintage sites because tubes usually want 4K new stuff, which is short sighted i think. If a clip is ten years old but still gets mad views etc then why not show it?

Because most 'webmasters' and 'affiliates' are just that.

Most in this industry haze zero clue about marketing and have been fed the 'exclusive, custom content sells' story so much that is all they know.

Its the same reason that the industry isnt as profitable for people these days as it once was they gave the cart away and are now trying to sell the horse.

this

I still make sales on stuff I shot like 15 years ago (wow I'm old) that I made when I had no clue what I was doing, was using a crappy webcam (sometimes my inbuilt laptop cam), bad lighting, etc etc

put it on c4s eons ago and it pulls in almost as much as the rarer new, more polished vids I make. everytime I post something new I make sales on really old stuff. often sales on the old stuff without posting anything new at all (I suck at keeping to a schedule on that)

it sells, why not leave it up to potential customers? I'll take a couple bills extra a month for work I did in 2007, passive income is fun :)

yeah, a few of my clients are really into vintage porn. they esp love all the, uh, bushiness :upsidedow

and the softer lighting, softer bodies, softer film quality. not everyone wants stark 4k/HD/VR

there's a market for everything, for sure

Yeah, I liked it more when I could relate to dick sizes back in the late 90's blue movies . . .

your dick is I'm sure incomparable

on the vintage tip, many many many moons ago my mom and I went to a theater presentation by Annie Sprinkle, who I'd never heard of before. I was like 18 maybe, this was a long minute ago

my mom and dad had an old porn collection and before we went she gave me a video to watch of Annie and (odd to think of it now) Ron Jeremy. though not as odd as watching a porn my parents had watched, but my curiosity outweighed the ick factor

wow so much bush, on both. I recall thinking (I was already shaving), so you can give oral and floss your teeth at the same time. the 70's were a very hairy time

some dudes really love that though, esp in an era where shaving/waxing/manscaping is the norm

I find it off-putting but then again, Skin Diamond's style might be out of vogue a few decades from now and I'll still worship her. some looks are timeless

recall the Sprinkle presentation was wicked
