Cancun Is Now The Second Most Popular Destination In The World As Airport Breaks More Records

I'm pretty sure half the population of Canada is in Cancun/Playa Del Carmen right now. I meet seemingly 5 times as many Canadians than Americans from the US here in Playa Del Carmen.

The report highlights the cities with the highest number of international arrivals from across the world. Dubai ranks at number one, making the most of its role as a major business hub while continuing to expand its allure as a leisure destination. Istanbul, Turkey comes in at third place.

The report lists Cancun as controlling 4% of the global share of international flights, an outstanding figure that the local tourist industry will be hoping continues long after the world returns to some level of normality.

Mexico is a fun place to vacation

About 20 minutes ago, at midnight, I heard 3 gunshots in succession followed by another 3 about 5 seconds later. Within minutes I heard police sirens and see about 6 police vehicles and are now putting up the crime tape. The shooting appears to have occurred outside a nightclub frequented by locals. This is 2 blocks from my apartment. 95% of murders go unpunished in Mexico (impunity index 2010-2016). Yes, that is a real statistic. Shit is real out here. https://qz.com/105952/98-of-murders-...went-unsolved/

Damn Ace, I would move away or at least not out the window while that's happening..

Most likely I mentioned to you by email, I knew three people personally that were killed and disappeared in Mexico during my stay there, and had multiple break-ins resulting in no police coming out to take a report.

Cost of "living" is NOT cheap in Mexico. Only the housing is. There are other mild climate destinations for you to consider relocating to.

Use this time to research other destinations that ex-pats have decided to call home, either part or full time. Fly out and spend some time there.

I also see about 5 cruise ships a weel arriving here. I left Playa del Carmen some months ago, getting crazy there. Near Puerto Vallarta / Punta Mita is more relaxed.

Some Canadians here cancelled, afraid they couldn't get back home. Most here came cause they don't want to go back home anyway.

Hardly any nice affordable apartments here available now in January.

Thanks. At least there were no injuries.

Are you also from Louisiana? I lived in St John, St Charles, Jefferson Parish for 30 years. I think I may have asked you this months ago as I remember typing that out. I wish GFY had notifications for replies.
