Who's using Google Analytics 4?

Curious which feature of GA4 is most useful to you and did It really help you in getting more actionable and clear insights?

Someone said that you died from Covid 2 weeks ago.

google 4 didn't feel as useful. You have to use both Analytics 4 and search console

912lab 02-08-2022 02:12 AM

it's too complicated and confusing for me, I switched back

FansCity 02-08-2022 09:45 PM

I didn't understand either. Everything is very confusing

Yup overcomplicated non-sense GA4, good ole' Universal ANALytics do the job.

HapaxLego 02-15-2022 09:57 AM

Agree.

I find it too complex as well. It's a little overwhelming.

Universal Analytics is being switched off on 1st July 2023 so we're going to have to figure out how to use GA4 :(

So yeah, a lot of webmasters, even SEO experts have trouble adapting to GA4. However, on the high end, the GA4 really has major advantages over Universal one like:
-Better user tracking system (provides bunch better insight on what user is doing on website)
-Goals and events are simpler to setup and use
-Data driven attribution and modeling
-Privacy controls
etc....

GA4 is very confusing and too much event driven. so in order to be able to track something that was easy to see by default on the GA3, now you have to set up an event. from what i can see they were trying to cut down on resources, while introducing something new to the stock holders (something very unfinished).

if they shut down GA3 next year they will be shutting themselves in the foot. if that happen i bet many webmasters (and SEO experts) will move away from GA. but i bet they have at least half a brain not to do it. :2 cents:

Its basically a faster version of Universal Analytics. However, it doesn’t come with all the neat pre-made reports that UA has. You have to make them yourself.

This is a pain in the ass to setup for every site. If you have a good handle of Google Tag Manager, it gets easier, but still very technical and non-user friendly

Analytics G4A Setup

You have to tag you site using googles webmaster console!
Then setup all the predefined events & listeners... its very anying!

basically just open all of googles tools & link everything!
Analytics + tag Manager + Optimize + Data Studio

the integration code snippets are huge! My entires sites code isnt as long as the integrations...

The best & simples way of setting up G4A is to fuck it & go for clarity!
Bing Webmaster Tools & Clarity are the Microsoft equivalent!
