Gym or swimming pool?
What would be better in terms of burning fat ?
|
Swimming. Maximum safety and effectiveness for all muscle groups. Just don't overdo it with the distances, so as not to overload your heart.
|
Running.
Swimming over gym (unless it's gymnastics) |
I did both during my 35kg weight loss.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday Gym Tuesday, Thursday Swimming. I got used to it in like 2 months lol |

Better to combine all. For example, Monday, Wednesday, Friday - gym, Tuesday, Thursday - swimming, Saturday - hiking or bike

@Klen, why not mix things up and do them all? swimming (I'd live in the ocean if I could), weights (I have a workout machine but still use 2 litre bottles of water for squats and such), dancing (all you need is a floor for that), yoga, walking, running, skipping. just anything you enjoy that moves your body. that's the point, just keep moving. hell, I do leg lifts when I'm washing the dishes, ab exercises on my couch when I'm reading. an object in motion stays in motion you don't need to join a gym to be fit |
Rofl. So no one here did any excercise in their life i see.
You'll lose 0 fat in the gym. You will lose even less then 0 fat swimming. You will lose fat once you fix your eating. You will gain muscle mass in the gym You will learn how to swim swimming. If you swim long enough (which you won't) you will develop certain swimming phisique as certain parts of your body will grow. You will still lose 0 fat, and will not grow too much muscle mass. |
treadmill in your office. take screen breaks and hop on it throughout the day. treadmill/running is the best way to burn excess fat. it clears the head too.

I also did in-couple dancing 3 times a week, however as i left Prague i dont have option to do it so frequently anymore. Plus i would always smash sandwich or two once i would return to home after dancing . Quote:
At the moment it's almost like 24/7 to be on some screen, TV, Desktop PC, notebook or cellphone so could be like double benefit. |

Losing weight is simple. You need to lower your calorie intake while increasing your physical activity.
Exactly ten years ago in 2012 I was 275 lbs. A combination of watching what I ate, working out in the gym, and cycling got me down to 200 lbs. I had a foot issue most of the summer and was unable to hit the gym or do most physical exercise so I am back up to 224 lbs. The first step is lowering your calorie intake. You don't need to starve yourself or go hungry... Eat in moderation, four small meals a day, and what what you eat. My problem is soda - Pepsi. (Damn Cindy Crawford and that Pepsi commercial in the 1980s.) That and junk food. And of course pizza. When I am on my diet I eat eggs in the morning, a little pasta salad with chicken for lunch, oatmeal with fruit for a mid day snack, and then soup for dinner. Exercise... I cycle almost every day, have for years... And I hit the gym usually three or four nights a week. I mostly do the eplitical - I watch movies on Netflix while burning calories. Oh, and sleep properly too. |
Diet. Weight loss is 95% diet.
You don't burn fat - You burn calories. Rather than burn excess calories, simply don't take in excess calories to begin with. |

I am going to the gym every day except the weekend (because the personal trainer is not working on weekends), otherwise, I would go on those two days. I've just returned from fast walking, doing it every day 5 up to 10 km. I am also taking dosages of fat burners and a shitload of supplements and all that works fine. I guess it could be much better in case I would stop eating late at night and eating stuff I am eating but this is something I can't stop so I will have to keep it this way. No one answered your question. I would vote for swimming but you need to do it seriously ( I was training swimming when I was young and all I remember was extreme hunger after training was finished) and most importantly, to reduce calorie intake. As someone mentioned above, if your metabolism is OK, then it is a simple question of calorie deficit. Spend more than you are taking in. I have a big indoor swimming pool nearby but It was too time-consuming to go that way compared to described above. |

i sometimes hop on when i'm burned out and thinking about a nap. exercise stimulates the brain worms i heard. # |
PROPER NUTRITION
Gym and swimming will just help you build and shape the muscles that are underneath the fat. |
You cant start gum at once. I will recommend first to start running for some time and after you go to the gum
|
Eat meals with less calories, include more vegetables and fruits. You do next any of these two
|
well now Roch tells us we don't need to starve ourselves :upsidedow
(kidding ya kid, props on losing weight the healthy way) live on glycerna energy drinks, vegetable soup, tang and cranberry juice with copious amounts of cigs and some herb and you'll lose body mass fast. just not the body shape one would want Klen wasn't even asking about that; he posed a question about exercise start you day off dancing your azz off (to any music you enjoy), then go for a dip in the ocean or pool. do some squats with weight and planks as well. energetic sex is always a plus. once you start moving it's kinda addictive. orgasms are a side benefit kenpo is also very wicked and fun. again, all ya need is a floor for that fuck the gym, unless you enjoy watching people watch themselves doing bicep curls in the mirror |
Fucking on cocaine is the best cardio.
|
|
Swimming pool..Best overall work out....easy on joints, great cardio, tones all muscles..just my:2 cents:
|
Food food food... 80% is all about calories and 20% about exercise

Nobody likes my jokes anymore.

Boxing gym.
|
So here is an update on my weight loss.... On October 17th I was 227 lbs. This morning (and yesterday) I was 222 lbs. So I lost five pounds.
I am not trying too hard. I did have pizza one day (two huge massive fat slices of pizza) and also a "loaded fries" on Friday night. If I push harder - going to the gym two or three times a day - I can lose a pound a day. |
Gym is the only healthy way to lose fat and gain/keep muscle. Swimming is ok for cardio, but gym is still better for the whole body overall. Proper food is 60% of the success, though...gym is the other 40%.
Unless you have a perfect swimming technique, which 99% people don't, you might easily fuck up your back or neck. |

The correct answer: Gym AND swimming pool:thumbsup

with 5 belly shots, he lost 5kg and 1% of his muscle mass. seems like a scam for weak people? # |

I'm taking it right now because I also have insulin-resistance. 6th week. It takes at least a month to see any results. I haven't weighed myself in a while but I was down 3,5kg between the 3rd and 5th week or so. Haven't really changed diet (I avoid sugar, and don't really eat bread) as it was appropriate for insulin-resistance to begin with. In the 6 months prior to this I managed to get down about 4-5kg only. Wife generally says i'm noticeably slimmer since I started it. The shot doesn't really hurt at all, the needle is like 4 or 5mm long. I had some light nausea after the first 3 shots. When I increased dosage from 0,25 to 0,50 last week, no additional side effects (4 weeks 0,25, 4 weeks 0,50 then 1,00 thereafter). This guy should not have been on 1mg in 5 weeks, i'm not surprised if he felt like shit. One big benefit of it is that...you aren't hungry at all. I barely eat anything now, and when I do i'm almost forcing myself to do so and get full much faster. It's 18:10 right now, and I don't think I ate anything other then a single banana and I think a yogurt today? I don't really feel like drinking alcohol either tbh, on saturday I was practically forcing myself to drink on principle because it was the weekend :1orglaugh |
Rather dive then swim :)
|
elliptical trainer was ideal for me. cost 300 usd and save time, gym and pool is far away. I lost 30 kg and my knee disorder improved. running is not ideal if you have knee problem or you are overweight. so swimming and good diet: protein, fiber, vegetables are the most important, explore new recipes. good luck

Lift weights gain muscle and do some cardio.
You can also use fat burners or if you want more extreme use high-dose salbutamol or the medication for diabetics saxenda (Saxenda lately it is usually out of stock in many pharmacies in southern Europe because many people use it to lose weight.) |

I'm like that too, only without a medication. I fucking hate eating. I hate the feeling of food in my stomach. wish someone would just create a pill you could take once a day that provides all the vitamins and minerals etc etc and have a choice of what level of calories/fats/sugars the pill contains. a girl can dream... congrats on your progress @Klen, I recently moved into a new apartment that is absolutely perfect for me. since I don't cook I turned the huge kitchen into my gym, with my 2 litre water jugs for squats, mats, exercise machine, floor space for cardio and dancing and kenpo and yoga (ick, I dislike yoga but it does work). no pool here but I just moved down the road so can walk to the ocean to swim (and also do my offline work there) would that kind of set up work for everybody? course not. set up a plan that includes things you enjoy that are easy to access. the less hassle you feel with whatever workout routines you decide upon the more likely you'll be to stick with it make it fun, the ability to move our bodies is a gift we should enjoy hope your progress is going along nicely, whatever you decided |

I'm not really all that fat, 135kg right now but i'm very tall and a big guy overall so I don't look anywhere near that. My goal is to get to around 115kg. Below that weight, I think i'd start looking too skinny. |
i gain and lose weight more than Leo DiCaprio. i've lost 30kg (65lb) at least 6 times in my life. always for a goal, cuz otherwise i hate diet and exercise.
focus on a goal = i want to be slim for a big trip or i need to fit in my office chair or i want to try some kinky shit with the wife.. then you have something in mind during the hours of total suck and sweat. i drop weight before long cross-the-world flights so its more comfortable. i dropped weight when i moved to LA cuz most of the time was spent in the pool. weight is in your mind. most of us are spending our focus on work and projects. then our waistline gets bigger. for me, i can't be in a big work project if i want to drop weight. so planning is part of it for me. if you focus on dropping weight, all day every day, you only need 3 months to drop 30kg. set up everything else in your life and take a 3 month sabbatical to get fit. i dunno. i gain and drop pretty easy. its just work like anything else... # |

very happy you found something that actually works for you and you're only 20kgs from your goal. gather no moss and get at it! =) |
