Lets take a moment to appreciate the utter stupidity of this 80s music video...
The sheer absurdity of how when she pulls into the gas station, at 55 seconds, they are all bopping up and down, looking utterly fucking psychotic, singing into spanners! https://i.imgur.com/SjT8gzI.png Any sane person would have driven straight back out and found gas elsewhere !!! :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh Post a ludicrous 80s video that make you think WTF? |
I think he had a deal with some NY dance group.
"Allentown" is talking about the city going down, then it is a Broadway show. But it works. |

A bit like the fast and the furious movies :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
it's such a guilty pleasure (don't judge) but def the vid for You Spin Me Round should be on the list
cuz everyone wants to get wooed by a dude in a smoking jacket who used half a cannister of hairspray for his 'do the dancing like a pirate with sea legs, the flag waving, the hand gestures (esp the jazz hands and finger scolding)...so bad yet so good |
Well keep in mind she was Billy J's GF at the time I think or would be soon. Love can make a man do stupid things - then again - it was the 80s
|
Another good one. |

I have a strange love for the cheesiness and corniness of the 80's
It's wild nostalgia for me as an 80's baby. |

I think much of the 80's falls into the category of 'deliciously bad' from the jeans to the hair to the music videos...with a backdrop of neon and smoke machines but it was the formative years of hip hop so there's that too |
Peter Gabriel videos made me wonder if I was on drugs
|
I once drove behind the ZZ Top car in the late 80's and I was so bummed it never stopped for gas. I mean, they probably were not in it, but that video. Ah, for a time-traveling Galaxy s23 then.
Also, are 80's gas station videos really any dumber than say the TikTok trend of hot guys and cute mascs humping the pump or doing the lasso? |

do people really do that? I'm not surprised but lol I would guess the difference is probably that the 80's was such an earnest decade. like not fronting, just the gleeful abandon brought on by hair product and wearing high-waist jeans :upsidedow |

Until he got obsessed with the plastic surgery just before he died that is.... :( I also used to think that Doctor and Medics took a lot from his look... Just the look though - Not the flamboyance :winkwink: |
Appropriate 80s song.
|
Well, speaking of Pete Burns, here's his mate Steve Strange in what is an absolute classic 80's synth pop song - but the video is definitely in the WTF camp.

that was part of the beauty of the 80's. you can see a look, a hairstyle, a style of dance and immediately know 'yeps, that's the 80's' the big hair, the leotards and leg warmers, the shoulder pads, the jeans, the synthesized beats, all of it. yes I did own an acid washed jean jacket. I thought it was so fly but I was 9 or 10 at the time so I think I should get a pass on that Quote:
what a shame, he had a pretty face back in the day. oh well, as long as it made him happy it's not my place to judge what he chose to do with his own body dayum though another not-so-guilty pleasure (I still love PSH, no fucks given) but this vid def qualifies for the list my fav part is the old dude car-grooving in the back seat |
All of these vids came out on MTV. There were a lot of one-offs then, if you were in a band and could produce a video, you could get airtime. MTV was very hungry for vids at the beginning.

80's and 90's had the best movies... 90's had the best music, sports,
