Paxum now forces you to use their app to login

So paxum is now forcing you to use their app to login in 30days. Now I'm having trouble getting to verify my passport photo which their app is not detecting at all! there's not even an option to manually send the photo. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? it seems that they use Jumio for their ID verification which is crap.

This is such a dumb move... what if your phone suddenly dies then you'd be locked out of your account

Ruth will be here soon to tell you to stfu and just borrow your grand kids tablet.

Paul&John 11-12-2023 05:35 AM

wtf again, I really dont like having extra apps on my phone, at least there should be an option for a regular 2FA thingy

Brian mike 11-12-2023 06:05 AM

EFT, Bitcoin, Paypal, and wire are my exclusive ways to get paid from sponsors....

18 days left for me on the paxum countdown. :2 cents:

Klen 11-12-2023 07:09 AM

Well, if they use third party for ID verification, that is progress, much better solution then what it used to be.

LetterTwenty7 11-12-2023 07:11 AM

Does anyone know what the reason for this is? I don't remember any other service asking customers to use their apps if they don't want to.

There are some finance institutions which also ask for mandatory 2fa(sometime also app, sometime SMS, sometime some other way)

Paul&John 11-12-2023 08:00 AM

Mandatory 2FA is OK, but dont force an app on users.. Just do it via Google Authenticator/Authy, SMS, messenger pigeon etc.

BigFurry 11-12-2023 10:05 AM

Agree, please allow Google Authenticator or SMS

Klen 11-12-2023 10:16 AM

Also wise require app to login on desktop too tho i think that happen only if you actually install app. In that case it sends e-mail to verify login.

ravo 11-12-2023 10:37 AM

Just got this reply from Paxum regarding our business/corporate Paxum account;

"Thank you for contacting Paxum support.
The Strong Customer Protection security feature will not be mandatory for the Business Account, you can ignore the mentioned prompt as this will be removed by our IT department, we apologize for the confusion."

So, only applies to personal accounts.

It's just one of the options at Wise. You can also set it to Google Authenticator in Wise Settings > 2-step verification.

Adraco 11-12-2023 12:10 PM

I don’t know if a 2FA account at Google or Microsoft costs anything?

With your own app, you can generate as many login codes as you want with zero additional cost. Could that maybe be part of it? Maybe Paxum doesn’t want to pay for each user who logs in to frequently check their account?

Time-based one-time password is a free algorithm. Google Authenticator is just one of the many apps you can use for it. People only tend to call it Google Authenticator because that's what everyone knows and recognizes.

In reality there are many other free apps that can be used for the same thing, and there are no accounts needed at either side.

Paul&John 11-12-2023 01:40 PM

Not everyone pays out in BTC :(

"You link a device to your Paxum account and confirm it's really you with a picture ID"

Oh man. I just went through a bunch of shit because some algorithm at Paxum got confused by the holograms on my driver's licence. They locked my account and said I'd have to get a passport. Am I going to have to do this again?

bmwracer41 11-13-2023 02:16 PM

Security

Once your set up, its really no big deal

Its an extra layer of security, nothing wrong with that, my concern is no wires going to US Banks

This should all be our worst problem and ruth is always helpful

If you were to lose your device for any reason, you would simply be able to perform a new login from a new device, and the APP will prompt you to link that new device to your account. Since you need to produce a picture ID to link a device to your Paxum account, that ensures your account security.

Unfortunately there was some confusion when the support staff originally answered your ticket.

Authorized Legal Representatives for Business accounts do not have to use this security feature, however all Authorized User(s) for all Business accounts must use this security feature.

You should have received a new ticket from our team explaining the situation and providing you the correct response. We apologize for the misunderstanding.

how do you even ask such a question? The reason is always the same..fucking control. They need to go with the requirements of repressive regimes and countries wanting to be sure no one will get away from them.
Until now, you could say that someone stole your identity.
If you are taking a fucking selfie with your documents then there is no such option anymore.

The worst part is when they are trying to insult my intellect by telling me it is for my own good. Fuck every stupid idiot thinking that this is good and something smart

Just installed the app. ID verification rejected twice so far.

......Looks I do have to go through all this again.....

I would go further and say that having the Paxum app on my phone actually reduces security.

Does the Paxum app save my user/pass? If so, that's bad.

Does it require me to type the u/p in every time? That's even worse, because my password is a 20+ character randomly generated one that took me about a minute to enter via my phone, which means I will likely be changing it to something shorter/simpler.

Independent 2FA would be a far better solution for login authentication.

rowan 12-06-2023 05:17 AM

Is anyone else locked out of their Paxum account because the verification doesn't work?

FreeOnes 12-06-2023 12:54 PM

I could not login the past couple of days. Removed the app from my phone and need to reauthenticate. What a BS!

femdomdestiny 12-06-2023 02:24 PM

Now imagine where are your photos stored and how safe they are.

I had the a similar issue. I found that logging off Paxum on your phone, then logging back in solved the problem.

But, I agree, this is an absolute PIA. Having to authenticate my account (on the same device) every time I log in, or make a transaction.

This is just another reason we are limiting the use of Paxum, preferring to use direct wire payments.

That is also what their support told me to do (and it worked)

rowan 12-12-2023 08:22 AM

I've been waiting nearly 3 weeks for support to fix/manually work around the broken "automated" verification system that gets confused by holograms on my licence.

I currently have no access to my Paxum account, or its funds.

I have a business account, but still get this app requirement after logging in. So I'm unable to get into the main account page. The only way for a business to login is through an authorized user account. So you do force business accounts to use this app? Now I'm unable to access our funds..... Please fix this ASAP
