America first! and America alone!!!!

The single worst thing after this that Team Trump could do is spin this as a Christian vs Muslim thing... otherwise WW3 is imminent.

" Trump said at the end of his speech to the nation. ‘And I want to just thank everybody, and in particular, God, I want to just say we love you, God and we love our great military protect them,’ he said."

BREAKING – Iran says : Our retaliation to US will be so big that it will be remembered for CENTURIES

Scary thing with the sites they bombed is ZERO radiation has been detected... eg everything was moved months ago, even if Iran can't make a Nuke they can make multiple dirty bombs leaving an area inhabitable for centuries.

Iraq didn't have hypersonic missiles and an active bioweapons program, good time to get a new box of N95 masks... for Covid.

You would rather use a very highly radioactive atom like cobalt 60 or polonium, to have strong emissions. For a nuclear device, you would use something with a low critical mass (like plutonium). The concept is different.

OK

Iran Contra broke U.S. and international law.

It showed how the executive branch worked around Congress.

It damaged U.S. credibility and set precedents for covert foreign interventions.

And here we are.

America is not at war. We have bombed another country. We have done this 13-15 times in the past thirty years, and it's never led to us being in a war yet.

This might move us closer to war, but we aren't there yet.

You are confusing an entertainment niche with a business as a way of making money. Any war is bad for any country and any business unless it is directly related to the military. War is always about losing, not gaining. I know what I'm talking about.

Come on Richard. You bomb a country, you are at war. Smarten up. End of.

Under international law (e.g. UN Charter), the use of force by one state against another without consent or self-defence is considered an act of war.

it was a needed move, as Iran should not be trusted with nukes as the like of the US, UK or europe have...

“O Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth to battle — be Thou near them!

With them — in spirit — we also go forth from the sweet peace of our beloved firesides to smite the foe.

O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it

for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet!

We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts.

Amen."

The two countries in the world that negotiated giving up their nukes are both being attacked by nuclear armed countries. Ukraine gave up their nukes because "we" promised them our full protection if they did. And Iran has been negotiating them away forever. Both these countries were attacked by a nuclear power. In fact Iran was attacked by two nuclear powers.
If either country had nukes, they would not have been attacked.

I disagree.

Bombing a foreign country is in fact an act of war, but that doesn't mean we are at war. For example, in 1986 we bombed Libya. But we did not go to war over the bombing.

We can go much further than a bombing too. In the 1980s we invaded Grenada. It was called Operation Urgent Fury. We went in, accomplished our goals, and left. We never declared war. (Random fact... I was in 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, which landed in Grenada although I was in the unit years after this.)

We bombed someone but this doesn't mean we are "at war" with them.

If Iran attacked Washington with a biological weapon, would that be an act of war?

True... Under Obama, the US dropped 26,171 bombs on various countries. Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan.

Were we at war with all of those countries?

Again, there is a huge difference between an act of war and actually going to are.

We bombed Iran. That is in fact an act of war. However, no one has declared war and there are no ground troops involved.

We are not at war with anyone.

Now you are splitting hairs. You claim you know your military history, but I think you read the wrong books.

America was never at war with Vietnam.

We can argue this all day long. We are not at war with anyone. A single bombing does not mean we are at war.

America is in fact currently at war with North Korea. This is because we signed an armistice, not a formal peace treaty.

We never declared war on Vietnam, but nearly three million US troops went to Vietnam and sixty thousand Americans died there. We sure do consider this a war.

We invaded Grenada but we surely do not consider this war.

We bombed Libya and also Syria, but no says the US was at war with Libya or Syria.

I define a war as an invasion, long term occupation, and thousands of American casualties. A single bombing is not a war.

there is no clear definition..in modern days it depends how you want to see it
just because you have no official troops :winkwink: on the ground..doesnt mean you are not actively engaging in behind the scene..would you consider cyber war for example as being in war? some could say the us is is in war since ww2 because behind the scenes it never stopped

Damn, the comforting privilege of defining “war” solely from the perspective of American privilege. You may not have considered Grenada a war, but I doubt the Grenadians thought that as foreign troops landed on their soil. And while you might dismiss U.S. actions against Iran as something less than warfare, I suspect the Iranians targeted by drone strikes, cyberattacks, and crippling sanctions have a very different understanding.

Funny how the definition shifts when you're not the one under fire. BTW, have you ever been under fire?

9/11 was a terrorist attack, not a war.

It resulted in us invading Afghanistan, removing their government, and removing their government from power. Which is obviously a war.

By your definition... We are at war with Iran. And Syria, Libya, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Serbia, Bosnia, Sudan, Lebanon, Chad, and... Tunisia.

By your definition, not since ww2. You have no idea what war is, R. You have never experienced it when the bombs are falling. Your government called 9/11 a war and launched a "War On Terror ©2001 Richard Cheney".

At this stage "war" is just a way for the military industrial complex to continue to make oodles of money. Notice how all these "wars" are against tiny shithole countries (Iran included) with no possible way of retaliating, fighting back or winning?

It's not like America is taking on France, or Germany, or Russia, or China, with boots on the ground and the potential for millions to die. These "wars" are exactly what the military industrial complex love best and what Americans will accept because it never affects them directly: endless low level conflicts in far off places that produces billions in profits while maintaining America's scary big dog presence around the world.

This has been going on since the 1950's and President Eisenhower warned us against this but hey, whatever right? Party on!!
