How did you make your first dollar in porn?

Mine was August 31 1999 I hooked up a cam on streamray and broadcast my first model. Think it was 3.99 a minute back then. No dsl it was all on dial up. 😂

Sly 10-07-2025 08:40 AM

MaxCash, Kara's. Then I want to say Top Cash, before it was Top Bucks.

Yep, same here, Maxcash - Major Melons I think was the site, I still have the check in a frame somewhere.

ARS then TopBucks quite quickly afterwards, those were the days, throw a shitty site up (by todays standards) throw traffic (through DMOZ listings) at it and make bank :thumbsup

Dabbled in the AVS systems back in the day but could never get them to work for me :Oh crap

Dialers (MoneyTree) did quite well as did Samis sites, (XClicks) maybe?

Huggles 10-07-2025 09:16 AM

ARS Milf Riders(?) gallery, made 4 sales my first day for $35 USD a pop back in like 2003

NatalieK 10-07-2025 09:27 AM

escorting was a massive fuck me...

working with my partner, we were ceramic tiling, hard work, 9 - 9, but good money, supported our family & enjoyed a good life with our own business.

However, when playing on cam, adultwork & earning a few quid, when a phone call was for $300 for the hour of sex & having fun with the both of us, things changed...

my life continued :)

blackmonsters 10-07-2025 10:33 AM

AgeCheck.

Ironic that it would be the most needed website now.

:2 cents:

Farang 10-07-2025 10:33 AM

first $35 pps, submitted a gallery somewhere back in 2004. that's 21 years ago... damn.

I did "free sites," like Green Guys and SEO. Could never get AVS or TGP traction.

I made a string of amateur videos with a stripper from Tootsies Caberet in Miami. I was selling VHS tapes. Chinese hosting with millions of mails. Switched to internet based videos after getting tired of packing and shipping thousands of tapes.

In 1996 I had my first website "Zachary's Daily Dose", a daily bikini site. I updated it every day by hand. Back then I had no intention of making money off of the website. It was just purely for fun. Someone emailed me and said "If you put a banner on the bottom of your page I will pay you $1k. I was in college at the time and needed the money. It was a banner for a preggo chicks website. The check cleared. The next month he offered me $2k for two banners. This went on for a few months until he decided not to renew. By then I was looking into adult programs and... here we are.

Cobra69erss 10-07-2025 11:04 AM

Same here. I started submitting freesites when everyone else was doing TGPs and moving into MGPs. First sale with socalcash (naughty america) bookwormbitches.

I basically went from photo galleries to blogs, shot some niche paysites, played with video dumps for a minute, and then jumped into buying banner spots on tube sites in 2011 which is when the money really started flowing.

I think it was Lady Thorn's Bizarre Flea Market in December 1992. I shared a table for my artwork and sold a couple of "prints" of my Dominatrix artwork. My first learning experience too as I didn't make much off just selling art. But I realized if I gave it a utility, like a calendar, where Dommes could post in their dungeon for appointments or for kinky people to have in their play rooms, I'd sell more.

I debuted my first calendar at "Spannermart" the fundraiser for leathermen who'd been arrested for a party in the UK. I sold a few over usenet, sight unseen, and through The Spectator magazine. This got me into QSM bookstore, then at The Specator.

When I moved to LA, Bill Margold got me a couple of gigs as an extra on Vivid movies like Roommates and Seven Deadly Sins.

It wouldn't be until 1999 when I was about to call it quits on selling kinky art when I got a call from my former room mate Chris Lowden at AVN. She needed help with a project and she knew I was comfortable with adult materials.

Made a weird porn banner for a russian guy . . .

TheLegacy 10-07-2025 03:44 PM

In the early 90s I owned a advertising firm and a side project was creating a online magazine for S&M lifestyle called Hush Magazine. Later on I sold both and went to work for Python handling their marketing/sales department along with pushing traffic to the websites. I learned a lot from that experience and enjoyed using the tools at hand for creating traffic and working on the websites to make them enticing not just in appearance but also text. I moved on from there to cams till enjoying acquiring traffic. This was before they created the term SEO - but it still incorporated much of the same techniques and goals which I enjoyed.

My first dollar I would say was from that online magazine sold in and around Toronto.

MakeMeGrrrrowl 10-07-2025 03:55 PM

Same way I'll make my last dollar. Phone Sex :)

cerulean 10-07-2025 05:55 PM

I piped a Craigslist aggregator into my RSS feed and answered a post for a website developer position. Turns out it was for a subscription site. He asked me to really think hard on if I was okay with the industry. I thought about it, and I said that I had no issue with it. They were extremely ethical--awesome people--and we're still friends to this day. It was a great decision to work with them and one of the best clients I've ever had!

Lensman / ICS reached out to me in 1998 or 1999 asking if I would come to work for them. In fact, it was Tanker. Their office was a few blocks from my house. I actually told Tanker "there was no money in on line porn".

Eventually we hired Tanker at Lightspeed Cash, and then later I would be General Manager of ICS Playboy.

Good times.

Yeah GG&J, PK and The Hun back in the day were solid gold, one listing you could pretty much guarantee $1k in commissions... Damn I'm getting angry at how we killed the business...

clipper 10-08-2025 06:06 AM

modified the erotic service section method early 2000s w/ 63% avg conversion rate on a 3 response tier system i setup for my m8s from hs i would pay to sit on work stations and ewhore their ways into converting 5-20 long form cc signs ups & dollar machine kept the funds on a compounding arbitrate scale :) i was 16 when we started that, i was making 20-40k a month between my partner and I, net net, almost no overhead other than paying my stoner friends from hs who barely could use myspace $10 bucks an hour and little bonuses for converting the most that day....
hell of a business model - between ry, b, and bberg i think we turned in 17 total chomo's who were convicted & also (if you think about it )subjectively we saved allot of marriages in the area we posted in because at the end of the day Dickhead Dan from Pioria illinois might be pissed off after the conversion was complete / he realized what happened / but he also didnt cheat on his wife that night or bring drip dick back into his house so ... your welcome lads... lmao

so yeah, that was more or less the first thing we ever full sent project wise in the adult niche as young programmers under our flag (shoutout dg)

https://web.archive.org/web/20050526...scortsxxx.com/

behold - the 'agency' lmao

- annnnnnnd yeah basically it all went pear shaped from there, been going for big air ever since ;)

cheers tho you guys, whoever reads this, some of my greatest insights & friendships & support has come from random members from GFY over the years, then getting to meet some of you fuckers across the crountry when my other projects would ntersect was a pleasure & thank you for helping me be fortunate enough to have taken the sauce ya'll would give us early on and being in a position now where i am able to help & teach others so i can pay it forward... just, thank you.

first dollar from Adult Check, did ok with AVS / free sites there for a little bit.

also remember some Australian couple with a this general pay site somehow becoming one of my first sponsors.
it was cute they would send me a graphic post card with a message together with the payout.
I seem to remember the first one was a Koala or something, and it had a message "don't spend it all at once"... good times!

if only I could remember what they called their site, man that was a while ago... jungle something? juicy? who knows.

xpics was the first time I started making any decent money, they were pretty solid there for a moment!

KrisKross 10-09-2025 08:01 AM

Xpics back in like 1997. I was tinkering with HTML and made a site for a friend that had pics of a few models he liked. Not porn, just bikini and lingerie pics, like Victoria Secret Angels stuff.

I think it was hosted on Tripod which only gave 2 MB of storage so I created a bunch of accounts because I kept adding new pictures. After a few months, the site was getting decent traffic because back then, the web was truly "if you build it, they will come".

Can't remember how I found out about Xpics. Probably clicked on a banner on a porn site and somehow ended up on their webmasters page. Decided to sign up and throw a few banners on my page and it wasn't long before the first check came in.

I think they were paying something like 15 cents a click and would have bonus days where the payout would double. Easy money.

Minutenmaken.nl Dutch Dialers
Tjeeze.nl (acronym for Smile in Dutch)
Fantasymanmoney.
Then Streamray followed by Secretfriends.

Huggles 10-09-2025 11:53 AM

I also made big bank with SexKey early on!

I’ll never forgot JoeE taking me to his old house while the new one was being built. I was broke and he gave me a huge bag of weed and a 5K check as a sponsor. Saved my ass.

Legendary parties at the new house.

mechanicvirus 10-09-2025 12:51 PM

I think it was kates playground or a phil flash sale on ccbill...

better first money was the original AFF geo tracking script before they officially let most affiliates use it.
