Tried to switch from Skype to Teams, massive fail.
 

First I logged into Skype and got the notice to switch to Teams.
Click the learn more link and it did not work.
Went to youtube to get a video of how to do it; but it had no sound or explanation
that I saw.
Went to Microsoft and downloaded Teams on my desktop, installed it but don't have any
of my old contacts.

I take full responsibility for this fail; but it's still on Microshit to make me not fail.

I have to agree. I switch to Teams when Skype was killed off. I found it really hard to use but thought I was just being stubborn. Nope. It's been 6 months and I've decided that its pure dog shit too.

To talk to my old customers on Skype, I have to have a second "personal" teams account. I can't launch it without having another Teams window open first. Teams is fat, consumes lots of disk space and resources, and is rediculously hard to use compared to other programs out there.

I resisted Telegram at first but fuck... it works, its lightweight, its simple, and its free. So yep... I'm going to uninstall Teams this week.

I've tried Teams many times over the years, especially since we use Office internally. It's just... blech. The other day I was thinking about canceling Zoom, since again we already have Office/Teams, and its just such a subpar experience that just doesn't make sense.

I do use Telegram and WhatsApp. I still like Skype better, but I definitely do not see Teams being the "natural replacement," it's just too awkward to use.

I use teams for work, no issues

Skype was such a well developed and maintained app until it turned into an Electron app. Teams really doesn't compare.

Google Meet is pretty decent for video, but the 1 hour time limit for 3+ callers is so annoying. Slack is the same way. Neither feel like something I want to invest in personally.

I haven't tried Telegram; but I need to give it a try.

Moral of the story : Don't count on anything in the internet lasting forever.

did you sign into Teams using your Skype Username? or password? I did that and all my contacts were there - keep in mind it has to use your skype username to know who your contacts are and their conversations.

Also - you will find differences between a paid Teams and free. Can be annoying for example you're not able to hear or send voice mail but overall I use what clients are - Teams and Telegram.

Summary. MSFT bought it to first get rid of the original P2P version of skype. I mean, how the FUCK can intel snoop on that p2p ssht?

Then to kill it. Can't have people making worldwide long distance calls for free or a penny or two a minute.

Just took 'em awhile. This way it looks all easy and natural-like.

Teams is terrible!

Has anyone been able to get their Skype history? I've requested it multiple times, but it never gives me the download. Most of the more recent chats from the last few years are still there, but I would like to get the full download.

Teams sucks!
99% of the time, people just use an instant messenger just like the do email. They get a message and wait several hours to respond. It's rare to get into a live chat or a cam session with someone

Just about everyone has switched to Telegram.

At this juncture in this business, if someone needs me they txt me.

This is ridiculous. So now I have to use both Teams and Telegram? and I have to check both every day? To find someone I have to check two different systems?

I understand what Microsoft was doing, they want to bring everyone onto one platform. But they don't understand that people liked the original platform, do not like the new platform, and a lot of people will leave.
