Any Aussie webmasters
that use Telstra as their ISP having problems submitting to AL4A?
I have never submitted to AL4A before and when I do I get this "We do not accept submissions from IP 61.9.128.173" When I checked the IP it is one of Telstra's and my IP on ADSL is 203.51.145.xx How do you get something like this rectified? |
its prob your hosting ip
|
61.9.128.173 is Telstra's proxy I think.
You could try accessing AL4A and submitting through http://www.proxyone.com or some other anonymous web-based surfing thingy if you know of one. No idea if it will work. I know nothing about proxy's. |
yep - that IS the tesltra proxy
all users on my forum who are with tesltra have that IP logged for them. Telstra sucks ass - move to IS Prime thats what im gonna do. |
=^..^= have you used IS Prime yet? I would like to find another ISP and I agree Telstra is full of shit.
|
katiepants that is a good suggestion thanks :)

PADSL-1500-FlatRate $139 $149.95 1500k / 256k - :-) The only catch is, it *is* unlimited but in times of heavy congestion, they penalize the really heavy downloaders. I've used it for a while now, and still getting 150/160k/sec tho, and i've downloaded a few gig this month already :) Steve |
I've been with internode adsl since they introduced it, I swapped out from telstra when they offered "free outs cos we changed our TOS to fuck you better".
I have uptimes of 15+ days, and I get top rate tech support. Highly recommended. |

might move to internode after my contract is up |

I'll definately go with internoide
kevin - Dodo has really low bit rates. they arent very good. Unlimited on internode would be GREAT! I dont do much download but do a shit load of uploads. |
I heard a rumor from one of thier techs a few weeks back that they are almost ready to launch the first ddsl plans downunder, but it will only be available on the 1.5mbit plan.
|
That server IP actually isnt a proxy server.. Beleive it or not its actually a regional router ip for outgoing international requests, and unfortunately it also gets used for internal requests as well.
Its actually located in sydney. And unfortunately all your http and ftp requests get tagged with the ip, hence if a tgp owner or something blocks a cheater with that IP he will block us all. Its only a new thing too. Telstra have changed their request handling in the last 6 weeks. And personally its pissing me off. And yeah i had a squiz at dodo, and they dont look to bad.. im gunna try em and see how they go.. Nathan |
Guys thanks for all the info :) I think I am going to switch to internode and see what it's like.
=^..^= yeah gods I have to keep copying and pasting this because I can never remember it LOL |
Kitty can you get those other isp's down here - I thought that only Netscape ? and Telstra were available here in Tassie.
Actually I can't complain about downtimes with Telstra - I had a couple of hours out a few weeks ago and can't remember the time before that. Dial-up has been pretty shitty though. Although I'm a tad older than most of you so I'm probably getting a bit forgetful :1orglaugh |
I also use internode. You would be crazy to go with anyone else. The comandico resellers (dodo, etc) are just bad.

i dunno bout here in hobart but iprimus was available when we were in Launny. |
oh ps = steve we are just 1km away from u
we just moved we should all catch up. |
I use optus cable on one of my machines & it is great.
Telstra dsl on another & it sucks big time. Slightest moisture on the phone line & its gone for a couple of days. Telstra is regularly down most weekends. Tech suport is usually a recorded message saying they are looking into the problem or some young kid with no idea reading lines off a screen. Optus is about 3 times faster than telstra for less money. |
In the couple of times we have moved house - Telstra has fucked our reconnection numerous times
We have been offlien 2 to 3 weeks each time we moved and lost over $50K revenue from being offline the situation was so bad at one stage that a tesltra employee phones me one day to say he had made an official complaint on my behalf ..as for their tech support - the reason its so slow is because they are on DIAL UP! - they only provide cable to their employees to use for surfing in the cafe during lunch breaks WTF?!!! |

I saw it in the paper.
I'll give you a call tomorrow - that'sll be good I get my Benz back from Performance Autos tomorrow so I'll be able to drive down the street and visit im too lazy too walk :1orglaugh |
Im on Optus cable myself -- 5GB plan $135/month (about $90 US).
Im dreading the day I move out and will only get dsl, it sucks so bad in Australia. :feels-hot |
$149 - 18gig of bandwidth upload is not counted and its 1.5mbps down and 256 up
www.iinet.net.au i'm in sydney and i always get my plan speed ay.....plus they have awesome support phone and on there website also no contract which is awesome...plus they give a dial up for backup or when your not using the dsl so its great if you go on holiday in oz oh and forgot to mention iinet will install a home plan in a business location which is great i know many businesses now running adsl from there offices saving a shit load compared to business plans |
People who are thinking of DoDo should think again. The reason it is cheap is that they have less bandwidth available per user than ISP's like Telstra or IINet.
Internode can be good for some people and bad for others. I would email them before joining and ask for some commitment that you would be happy with bandwidth. In any case, I would avoid long contracts. Pricing is becoming more competitive all the time and being locked into a long contract is probably the least cost effective thing one could do. |

but your right when it comes to DODO there dial up is fucking slow i'd hate to try there dsl |
helis, take a chill pill.
Nowhere in my post did I say IINet were bad. In fact they'd be my first suggestion to a new DSL subscriber. :) |

hmmmm sorry need sleep misread what you actually said my mistake dude |
You people that are putting shit on DoDo don't know what you're talking about. Suck My Pipe, Oz Forces and Dodo are all using Comindico. Comindico has for a long time had a HUGE excess of bandwidth and that's why the companies reselling their bandwidth are able to offer such competitive pricing and plans.

i was recommending them to all my design and hosting clients but not anymore they took to big of a step with out prepaing |
I'm with :BangBang: Telstra ADSL, it sucks big time and I can't switch... Local friends who tried all lost their port and then got told "no spare ports available in your area" - bloody monopoly - stupid government should have kept the infrastructure seperate from provider when they privatised...
Anyhow - good place to look for providers is http://www.whirlpool.net.au - I would love to go with iinet... And Kevin - stay away from dodo - I never ever experienced such slow internet with that many drop-outs! Not even back in late 1994 with a 14.4 modem!!! I used them last year for 10 days whilst being on vacation up in Cairns - never again! |
