IRVINE, CA - Angered by adult Internet chat board comments challenging their streaming media patent claims, and perhaps riled further by the fact of several adult companies joining to help each other challenge those claims, Acacia Media Technologies wants a federal court to let the company add new charges that all but add up to conspiracy charges against those adult companies.

What a circus this has become.

The audacity of this guy is outragious, but I'm not surprised. It is my feeling that what we are dealing with here is a group of lawyers who formed a company.... that company wasn't doing so hot, so they sat down recently and said "Gentlemen, how can we make some money? Say, I know, why don't we seize some patents regarding internet technology and see if we can't expliot them somehow?"
"Sounds good, and maybe we can go after the porn industry so we keep a higher percentage of public opinion on our side"
"Good thinking"
"All in favor say AYE"

That's pretty much what I think Acacia is all about.

acacia are fucking morons. I could just imagine these failed internet boom mbas and lawyers sitting around the conferenced table planning out these idiotic schemes. They probably think they are smart.

i find it funny that they claim the IMPA has been on the boards advising everyone to not sign with acacia.

this is the biggest board acacia....go ahead and use the search button....you wont find anything....because that just isnt the case.

what you will find is webmasters all around giving you the finger....not because the IMPA told us to, but because you are all a bunch of lawyers with no idea that the patents you BOUGHT dont apply to everything you think they do.

I think if nothing else it proves that the porn industry isn't quite the soft target they originally thought and to be honest they are now shit scared because they know the claims will never stand up in any half-decent court.

Given their other disastrous attempts at crap patent claims in the past if they get this wrong they really are in trouble. I'd be scared too were I them. Any kind of organised fight back was probably never on their original plan.

Will there be public court records available of this case? I'd love to read the arguments that get presented in this case by both sides.

Anyone know if California courts make this info available to the public?

Be careful what you wish for. There are countless questionable posts by irresponsible webmasters concerning Acacia.

Remember folks, they legally hold the patents....your actions are likely to be transcribed for any legal proceedings.

that doesnt matter. i can say whatever i want. i am not affiliated with the IMPA in anyway whatsoever....just like the other thousands of webmasters on this board.

i have never seen spike or anyone from the impa advising people not to sign with acacia. those claims are utter bullshit.

Acacia knows that there is strength in numbers, that's why they want the Impa gone.

And THAT is the reality of it all. There's nothing in the world like the feeling of buying a patent to somethng that everyone already uses, then suing them for using it...until those who are getting sued for using something that was already being used all gather together in a big anygry group to protest it LOUDLY...extortionists are nothing more than playground bullies who never grew up. When you get a big group of bullied people together...well, Custer had it coming.

I'm looking fior it now, but I'm sure I heard about a case awhile back regarding posts on messageboards.

My attorney has also handled a few messageboard cases, but he's out of town until Monday, so 'll have to contact him then regarding the matter.

This is the kind of post that they can use to their advantage..

Though it may be a joke, they can use it as a threat on their lives.

The typical, "Acacia sucks" comments hold no water, but threats can hold lots of water, and they are apparently feeling now that they need more ammo to fight with because the patent deal may be making them a bit worried at this point.
