Making some drinks...I assume 1 ounce is 1 shot (regular sized)?

Actually quite a bit...I just don't measure shit out usually. I just take shots till I have trouble standing. That's my form of measurement.

I'm just now starting to mix drinks and stuff though.

Actually, if you want to get picky...

A shot glass in standard form is one ounce, but shot glasses are made in many sizes...even up to 4 ounces.

But it still stands, standard form for one shot is an ounce

It depends on where you are -- some states say that a shot is 1 oz, some say it's 1.5 oz. Then there are the states like South Carolina that will not let you pour a shot, they make you use the airline minibottles that are 1.5 oz.
