Son will not let me work...

How is it that my 13 month old son can figure out exactly when I am starting to work on something to wake up and want to come sit in my lap? I can be playing games and shit for hours but as soon as I start to work here he comes..... Anyone else have that problem?:(

gin 11-13-2003 07:07 AM

C_U_Next_Tuesday 11-13-2003 07:13 AM

Find a cool babysitter or day care that is close by for him to go to part time ...or you could just choose to work at nights when little one is sleeping. It sucks to be constantly interupted...

my hubby is worse than the kids any day of the week.. wish i could find a fucking babysitter for his ass.. but i am afraid "hookers" would be to expensive...:1orglaugh

kmanrox 11-13-2003 07:13 AM

umm do what i did when i had kids living with me... lock the door and let tham knock, whine and cry all they wanted and just continue to work, and call your wench's mobile phone and tell her to get the god damned kids away from your door so you can afford the things she receives from your hard work =)

maybe thats why im divorced? shrug

He is 13 months and just likes running around with the controllers. However I did find something that works.

It was 5:00 in the morning when I posted this . Plus I have a hard time trusting anyone with him. I have 3 kids from my ex-wife that I never get to see because of my occupation. So this one never leaves my side , I just hope he does not grow up to hate me for guarding him from everything.

cluck 11-13-2003 07:21 AM

Put him in one of those mesh cage type things. I forgot what those were called. Just tilt your monitor away from him.

I cannot see my other 3 but this one is with a different girl and she lets me keep him all the time. But thanks about my other 3 , my ex-wife says it is too bad for the kids to be over here but then she waits on that child support check the first of every month.

Va2k 11-13-2003 07:27 AM

it gets worse trust me ;)

Thats highly understandable.. i was a single mom for a while and it's hard to leave your kids with someone else.. I always did home daycares with people i knew and trusted... but i worked out of the house for a very long time.. now that I am home, i just work around everyone elses schedule...

Dont try to guard him from everything..cause they will see it once they start shcool anyhows... i found that the most sheilded children were the ones that went hog wild after shcool and did everything they could to go against their parents wishes..

parenting is hard work and sounds like you are being a good dad..keep it up:thumbsup

Sarah_Jayne 11-13-2003 09:35 AM

if I ever really have a load of work I need to do in a day I have to set my alarm and get up before everyone in the house so that I have a few hours to work without someone wanting something from me.

I swear, if I so much as move in my chair someone asks me for a cup of tea or the cat cries for something.

Dude, I haven't even read the rest of this thread but my 2 year old son does THE SAME THING! It doesn't matter what time I decide to work, anywhere from 11:00 at night to 10:00 in the morning, he is going to wake up exactly when I'm in the middle of something.

I can browse GFY, watch TV, whatever for as long as I want, but the second my hand hits the keyboard to make money he's up.

HS-Trixxxia 11-13-2003 09:55 AM

The secret is: the minute he falls asleep - get to work. Don't clean - don't wash - don't do anything else but work. Once he wakes up - change him or feed him or set him up close enough to you so you can see him (perhaps a playpen, but doubting he'll stay at 13 months - maybe get the interlocking rails/gates that form a circle around him large enough to play freely but not walk out into harm) give him toys, put a movie and perhaps he'll let you work if not, stay with him until his next nap. If working during the night is better for you, just make sure you sleep when he's sleeping during the day or you'll burn out.
