and this effects me how?

I'd be worried if it was Mexico, but it is freaking Haiti. There are probably more Haitians in NY than on that little rock.

and we're going to bail out the asswipe running this place? :(

fuck - they have every right to revolt

Roger 02-23-2004 09:10 AM

My suggestion is to stay away and let them deal with there own problems and I think that Bush will do the right thing and not intervene militarily because he's too busy with Iraq :)

But it could be good for his reelection chances though, because people in Haiti are asking for an intervention. So he can go there, save the day temporarily and gain a few votes.

IPK 02-23-2004 09:11 AM

uh oh

Rochard 02-23-2004 09:11 AM

Well it's obvoiusly about the oil..... I mean, The US only goes to war when it's about oil.

They are now thinking that that is not correct info and the tests were not given correctly.

DWB 02-23-2004 09:14 AM

We are just sending troops to protect the US Embassy, not to fight.

Steve W 02-23-2004 09:15 AM

It always starts with we're just sending troops to protect the US Embassy.

The capitol will be burning down within the week. Half the country is under rebel control. The rebel leaders said they're moving next to the biggest city. Then what? 50 marines are going to stand up to millions of bitter people?

The rebels are not after the US embassy.

DWB 02-23-2004 09:28 AM

There are only 200 armed rebels doing all of this. The rest of the people are just looting and catching shit on fire because they can and because they want free shit.

This is not an uprising because they hate Americans so we should not even be an issue for them. They ousted their leader and are taking control of the country themselves. However, you can bet your ass that if we are fired on, there will be some Haitians gunned down.

It's because export to US of 83.9% is why they want to make sure the country is safe. Food and cheap labour is just as valuable as oil...

Cheers,
Matt

People who may have friends or family there. People who care that a war is breaking out not too far from American soil, and the American troops we just sent may get killed. Those troops are brothers, fathers & sons.

Have a heart man. This world is not just about you.

Haitians everywhere.

If the country collapses you'll see another illegal migration wave into the US.
